🔥 CHAIRMAN’S UPDATE — FLETCHING BONFIRE 2026 🔥
Following Friday’s Government alert, I wanted to personally update everyone regarding our Bonfire Night celebrations, currently scheduled for Saturday 12th September.
The committee has met to discuss the situation and, at this stage, our celebrations remain scheduled to go ahead as planned.
However, we are very conscious of the exceptionally dry conditions. Over the coming weeks we will continue to closely monitor the weather, ground conditions and wider situation, while remaining in contact with the relevant parties.
Fletching Bonfire Society has a proud tradition stretching back to 1854, and nobody wants to see our celebrations take place more than we do. But that enthusiasm must always be balanced with our responsibilities to the village we call home.
The safety of our residents, homes, land, livestock and the wider community will always come first.
No final decision has been made, and we will continue working with those involved before deciding whether it is safe and responsible for the event to proceed.
In the meantime, please continue to support us, follow our page and keep Saturday 12th September in your diary. We will provide further updates as soon as we have them.
