🔧 Yesterday we welcomed back our Talus after she had some time away for maintenance.

🔩 A few interesting facts about her:

⚙️ Specially designed for the RNLI for launch and recovery of carriage-mounted lifeboats
⚙️ Atlantic 85 launch vehicle at Filey, previously used to launch our Mersey
⚙️ Weight: 19 tonne (the ground shakes when she moves!)
⚙️ Propulsion: tracks
⚙️ Amphibious - she can survive being fully submerged, so long as the hatches are closed!

💙 She is very well looked after by our brilliant shore crew on station; regular maintenance and full wash-down after every launch keeps her in the best condition possible so that we can continue to launch on training and on service 🚨

🪢 A formal visit to station! 🪢

🔹 On the 5th of August we had the honour of hosting the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Johanna Ropner, and the Naval Regional Commander Northern England and the Isle Of Man, Thomas Knowles.

🔹 The purpose of this visit was for us as a station to thank the Lord Lieutenant for inviting a crew member and their partner to a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace each year, and for her and the Commander to see the work of the RNLI in Filey.

🌊 For the visit, we launched both boats (one Atlantic and two D Class crews), welcomed Filey Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets, a Duke of Edinburgh Award student and several young people who are learning with us via the Youth Activity Scheme.

🔷 We are One Crew 🔷

Things don’t always go to plan, but we are always happy to support our flank stations when needed!

⚓️Scarborough Lifeboat Station lost a D Class anchor whilst on exercise yesterday (we’ve all done it…) so it was an excuse for their Lifeboat Operations Manager (LOM), Roger, to visit us here in Filey to collect a spare from our LOM, Ian, so that they can stay on service.

Roger was welcomed with a cup of Yorkshire Tea and a bit of friendly teasing ☕️ 🫖

🌊 We are still recovering after a very busy few days of welcoming you all, serving cream teas, running stalls, providing water safety advice, putting on a lifeboat display, socialising and responding to an incident.

📷 Here are three of the crew who took part in the display on Sunday - thanks to all of you who took time to come to chat to us and ask questions!

💛 From left to right: Caitlin, Meg, and our newest recruit, Jem

🌊 Look out for our next Meet The Crew, featuring Caitlin!

💙 What a weekend! 💙

🌊 Thank you to all who supported our Lifeboat Weekend, it has been another brilliant event perfectly organised by the Ladies Guild.

🙌 Thank you and well done to all of our donors, supporters and volunteers - you make it so that we can continue to serve our community and aid those who find themselves in difficulty on or near the sea.

📷 Here are just a few pictures from the weekend 😊
