🤔💭“Round Table looks great… but I’m not sure I’d fit in.”😔
From the outside, Round Table can sometimes look like a group of really confident, outgoing lads.
We’re travelling to different places, trying new activities, going to events, pubs and weekends away. You might see the photos and think everyone already knows each other, everyone is confident, and everyone knows exactly what they’re doing.
But we know that joining something new can feel daunting.
You might be thinking:
• Who am I actually going to meet?
• What are they going to be like?
• What if I’ve never been to the venue or done the activity before?
• What if I don’t know what to expect?
• Will I fit in?
• What if my job, hobbies or interests are completely different to everyone else’s?
• What if I don’t drink?
• What if I don’t like football
• What if everyone is chatting and laughing and I’m the one stood awkwardly on my own?
The truth is, you don’t need to be an extrovert to join Round Table. There is no "ideal" Table member.
You don't need an impressive job.
You don't need unusual hobbies.
You don't need to be sporty, loud, confident or the life and soul of the party.
You just need to be willing to give it a go.
The truth is...none of us are golfers, rockclimbers, perfect at sports. There are no action men here.
Round Table is non-religious and non-political. We're men from different backgrounds, careers, personalities and interests. There might be plenty of laughs but there's no expectation to be someone you're not in order to fit in. In fact we want variety.
And if walking into a group of people you've never met feels like a big first step, tell us.
We can meet you for a coffee or a beer beforehand. One-to-one. No big group and no pressure.
Then perhaps introduce you to a couple of the lads next time.
Then the wider group when you're ready.
And eventually, if you fancy it, there are Round Tables and members across the country — and around the world — to meet. Round Table is what you make it, what you want it to be.
You don't have to explain why you'd prefer to take things slowly. We get it.
And what does a normal Round Table evening actually look like?
Usually, it's surprisingly simple.
We meet up. Catch up on everyone's week. Put the world to rights. Have a drink, sometimes grab some , have a laugh and talk about what we're doing next.
🎳 Some nights are quite active.
🥙 Sometimes we just meet for food.
And some nights are just a few lads sitting around a table talking absolute rubbish for a couple of hours with a packet of crisps each.
You don't have to fit into Round Table.
There's room for everyone to bring a bit of themself to it.
