UPDATED: we are now told the closure will last until July 31st.

Transport for London says a lane closure on the A3 between New Malden and Tolworth will be in place until July 22nd.

It’s after a safety barrier was damaged in an accident.

Radio Jackie has questioned the amount of time the closure, which includes blocking off the entry slip road to the SB A3 on Tolworth Roundabout, will be in place.

A TfL spokesperson said: “We’re very sorry for any disruption caused by essential maintenance works at the A3 Tolworth roundabout. The road’s crash barrier was badly damaged following a serious collision and a lane closure southbound and a slip road closure are in place to ensure that the road remains safe for people to use while the repair work is carried out.

“Unfortunately, some of the materials needed for this work to be carried out must be manufactured to order specially for this location, which has led to a delay in repair work beginning. We expect the closures to remain in place until the end of July and we’re working hard to ensure people can continue to travel through the area, including by closely monitoring roads through our 24/7 control centre.”

📢 Three days remaining – the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding application process closes at 11.59pm on Sunday 17 May. Local community groups and organisations are invited to submit applications for projects that benefit residents and support development across the borough.

📝 Neighbourhood CIL applications forms are available online, with hard copies at Epsom Town Hall, Bourne Hall and Epsom Playhouse. You’ll need to refer to the CIL Spending Protocol (Section 5, pages 13–18) when completing your application.

⚠️ This is the final time that we will run this funding process; from April 2027 Epsom & Ewell Borough Council will be dissolved and replaced by the new East Surrey Council.

Hannah Dalton and Clive Woodbridge your Residents’ Association candidates for the Ewell Village, Stoneleigh and Nonsuch Ward would like to thank you for all your support in the recent East Surrey Unitary election. Sadly neither has been elected, coming a close 3rd and 4th to the Liberal Democrats.

It is sad to see two committed councillors who have worked so hard for the local community in which they live and who have contributed so much, to lose their seats to the big political party machine.

They would like to thank you all for your support during the campaign and the subsequent kind words they have both received across the community since they got the result.

They will remain your local Epsom & Ewell Borough councillors until 31 March 2027, and John Beckett will continue to represent you on Surrey County Council until the same date."

As always the RA will continue to support and work for its residents irrespective of this result and thank those who voted for us .
