Here’s what’s happening at Project C**t this September!

We’ve got a full programme of weekly groups and sessions running across the month, including recovery-focused support, wellbeing activities, creative groups, and opportunities to connect with others in a safe and welcoming space.

Whether you’re looking for support, routine, connection, or just a place to get involved in something positive, there is something here for you.

Our Knitting Nannas have been busy again, and these beautiful little cardigans, hats and blankets are now ready to be delivered to the premature unit at Calderdale Hospital.

The Knitting Nannas meet here at Project C**t every Friday, and there’s always something being made with care and a lot of thought behind it. They’re also busy knitting poppies for a Remembrance Sunday wreath for Rusty’s Café, and getting started on teddies for our Christmas grotto.

We love seeing what they get up to. It’s a lovely example of how C**t brings people together can give a real sense of purpose, friendship and the chance to do something good for others in our community.

A huge thank you to our wonderful Knitting Nannas for everything you do. We think you’re brilliant.

If you’ve been shopping at Project C**t, you may have spotted these signs around the mill.

They’re there to show you that your purchase really does make a difference.

Project C**t isn’t just a charity shop. Here at Bridgefield Mills, we have our charity shop, Rusty’s Café, the Rusty Bike Shed, volunteering opportunities, community activities all of which support our work upstairs in the mill - offering a range of recovery programmes, support groups and services supporting people to move forward and rebuild their lives after addiction.

The money raised through the mill helps us continue all of this work.

These are just a few examples of the difference your spending can make:

Spend £25 and you could help provide a one-to-one session with a dedicated recovery support worker.

Spend £20 and you could help someone access a supportive workshop, learning strategies to stay strong in their recovery.

Spend £15 and you could help provide household essentials, including furniture, to a local family in need.

Spend £10 and you could help breathe new life into a pre-loved bike, helping bring freedom and independence to someone in our community.

These are just examples. Every pound spent at the mill helps support the wider work we do.

So next time you’re passing, pop in, have a browse and see what you can find. And if you have good-quality pre-loved items you no longer need, we’d love you to donate them to us too.

Our next monthly wellbeing session is coming up…

On Tuesday 8th September, we’re welcoming Dan Keane, Founder of Lost & Found Wellbeing CIC, to Project C**t for Lost in Thought. Found in Understanding.

This relaxed and interactive session will explore thought, wellbeing and the human experience, looking at how our thoughts can shape the way we experience everyday life and whether there might be more to our experience than we realise.

It’s a chance to slow down, get curious, listen, reflect and have some meaningful conversations. There’s no therapy, no group counselling and no pressure to speak or share. Just an open and welcoming space to explore a different perspective.

The session is suitable for anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed, stuck or simply curious about understanding themselves and life a little differently.

Got something broken, tired or in need of a little TLC? Don’t throw it away just yet!

The Elland Repair Café will be at Project C**t on:

Back in July, we ran our crowdfunding campaign to help us raise the final funds needed to buy Bridgefield Mills — and we wanted to take a moment to extend our thanks to everyone who got behind us.

We were absolutely blown away by the support we received. We raised an amazing £18,650, exceeding our original £15,000 target.

We received £8,450 from 210 supporters directly through our Crowdfunder page, alongside several incredibly generous donations made directly to Project C**t on behalf of the campaign.

What meant so much to us was seeing support come from local people, people from further afield and even people who had never heard of Project C**t before. Wherever you supported us from, every donation, share, message and kind word helped us get there.

We really can’t thank everyone enough for helping us reach this milestone and supporting the future of Project C**t and Bridgefield Mills.
