Monkseaton Joint Cadet Centre (JCC). It's started. The construction of the new prefabricated JCC at Monkseaton is fully underway. The JCC will house Monkseaton Det ACF and 1156 (Whitley Bay) Sqn RAF AC. Great news.

“What an amazing evening”, began Dr Caroline Pryer, Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland, who on Tuesday 24 March 2026, presented her Lord Lieutenant’s Certificates for Meritorious Service to members of the Reserve Forces, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and members of the civilian staff. Dr Pryer also presented 4 Star Certificates to members of the Cadet Forces and appointed her new Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets for 2026. In her address she paid tribute to the service given by all recipients and said she was “in awe” of the achievements read out in their citations. The Lord Lieutenant thanked Commanding Officer Lt Col Iain McGuire, and the team at Zulu Coy, for hosting the event, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Band for their excellent musical contribution to the evening and the catering section for the delicious supper that followed the ceremony.

On Tuesday 17 March, the Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, Ms Lucy Winskell, presented her Lord Lieutenant’s Certificates for Meritorious Service to members of the Reserve Forces, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and civilian staff, and 4 Star Certificates to members of the Cadet Forces. In her address Ms Winskell congratulated all recipients and paid tribute to the service they had given, some over decades. She also thanked family and friends for supporting the recipients and said that without this support, the service given would just not happen. In thanking her outgoing Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets and welcoming her new Cadets for 2026, she emphasised what amazing ambassadors for youth the Cadet Forces were. The Lord Lieutenant thanked the Commanding Officer Queen’s Own Yeomanry, Lt Col Charles Mackain-Bremner, and his team, for hosting the event and the band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers for their musical accompaniment to the evening. Thanks also to the Chef for the excellent buffet provided.

"Once again, an amazing night with amazing people. You should be so proud of yourselves". In her address Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, Ms Lucy Winskell, praised all those who received Lord Lieutenant's Certificates for Meritorious Service - members of the Reserve Forces, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, civilian staff - and members of the Cadet Forces, some of whom were presented with their Master and 4-Star Cadet awards. In appointing her Lord Lieutenant's Cadets for 2026, the Lord Lieutenant paid tribute to her outgoing LL Cadets saying they had been great ambassadors not just for the Cadet Forces but for youth in general, and would be a hard act to follow. Thanks also go to the Commanding Officer, The Queen's Own Yeomanry, Lt Col Charles McCain-Bremner and members of QOY for hosting the evening so well, the band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers for the musical accompaniment to everything and the chefs for provide a great buffet afterwards. “What an amazing night,” declared Mr Michael Poole, Vice Lord Lieutenant for County Durham, who was representing Dame Susan Snowdon, Lord Lieutenant for County Durham, at the ceremony for the presentation of her Lord Lieutenant’s Certificates for Meritorious Service to members of the Reserve Forces, Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers and members of the civilian staff on Tuesday 10 March, at Bradford Armoury, Neasham Rd, Darlington, home of 50 Signal Squadron.

The occasion also marked the appointment of the new Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets for the year ahead; the Vice Lord Lieutenant thanked the outgoing Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets for their support throughout 2025, saying that they had been great ambassadors for the Cadet Forces and wished them well for their future.

Continuing his address Mr Poole said, ”Now I understand why Dame Susan regards this presentation ceremony as one of her favourite duties throughout the ceremonial year. The outstanding achievements and commitment of all the recipients tonight is indeed very humbling and the support of their families and friends is very much appreciated and highly commended. ”

A great night for everyone involved and our thanks go to CO 37 Signal Regiment, Lt Col Andy Bowdler, Maj John Blowes, OC 50 Sig (N) and staff for providing such amazing support, the Royal Signals (Northern) Band for their wonderful musical accompaniment to the evening and finally, to the Chef and staff for an excellent buffet.

A great evening for all those involved in the presentation ceremony of the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire's Certificate of Meritorious Service on Tuesday 3 March. Brigadier David Maddan DL, representing the Lord Lieutenant, presented Certificates to members of the Reserve Forces, Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers and civilian staff. He also presented Cadet 4 Star Certificates to cadets from Cleveland ACF and appointed the Lord Lieutenant's Cadets for 2026. In his address he congratulated "each and every worthy recipient" and thanked families and friends who had attended the ceremony adding that their support was essential and hugely appreciated by the Defence community. Thanks also go to Lt Col Kenneth Neilson, Commanding Officer, The Royal Yorkshire Regiment, Quebec Company, for hosting the ceremony, the band for their excellent contribution to the evening and an appreciative shout out to the Chef for the amazing buffet he provided.
