Broompark and District WI - Durham

For WI Day and NFWI’s 111 Stand Together, it seems right to share again these 2 pictures of 3 BaD girls (Broompark and District WI, County Durham Federation) who took part in a charity waterfalls challenge in April this year.

The challenge involved walking to 3 waterfalls and then wild swimming at the waterfalls in order to raise money for a local hospice, St Cuthbert’s Hospice. The 3 who did the challenge had no experience with this type of activity and completed it in style, successfully swimming at all 3 waterfalls and raising over £1000 for the hospice.

We feel this challenge really summed up what our WI means to us, which is friendship, having fun and trying new things together.

BaD girls had a great time at the DCFWI Darts Competition today, and were pleased as punch to come joint 3rd with zero practising, and came away with 2 raffle prizes!

It was great to be at an event with WIs from across the county and to be able to have a bit of a chat with them.

Thanks to Durham County Federation of Women's Institutes for organising, we are looking forward to the next one!
