BaD girls had a great time at the DCFWI Darts Competition today, and were pleased as punch to come joint 3rd with zero practising, and came away with 2 raffle prizes!

It was great to be at an event with WIs from across the county and to be able to have a bit of a chat with them.

Thanks to Durham County Federation of Women's Institutes for organising, we are looking forward to the next one!

Over the past few years the NFWI has been participating as a stakeholder in the project: ""Agency and Advocacy: Locating Women's Grassroots Activism in England and Ireland, 1918 to the present"". The project set out to identify how grassroots women’s organisations can co-identify strategies to safeguard their future activities and activism for the next 100+ years.

The project has led to the creation of the Activism 100+ Toolkit. The Toolkit contains the experiences, expertise, tips and ideas of members from various grassroots women’s organisations across Ireland and Britain. It also describes how best to advocate for the enhancement of the lives of women and girls locally, nationally and globally.

You can download the Activism 100+ Toolkit here: https://mywi.thewi.org.uk/running-your-wi/members-resources/strategies-to-safeguard-survival

Today, a band of merry BaD girls went to take part in the world record attempt for most people dancing the locomotion in one place happening, appropriately, at Locomotion, Shildon.

The weather was predictably not great, but despite the chilly, damp, day the atmosphere was buzzing and excited faces were seen all around.

Sadly the number of people there today was not enough to break the current world record, but we had great fun giving it a go, and would definitely join in a second attempt (and not just to get another badge haha). At least we know the moves now! 🚂

The BaD WI theatre group had a very enjoyable evening out seeing an excellent production of The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams.

We were very impressed by the performance, and it’s always a great evening out (and an excuse for a g&t 😃).

We very much recommend it for other groups looking for little outings!

This is the BaD girls’ contribution to the Community Christmas Trail at Ushaw College, O Boxmas Tree.

The theme was Christmas Carols and our members made diorama boxes representing different carols. It was great having so many people getting involved with the creation of this piece, and it’s something we’re very proud of.
