This Advice Week, we're proud to share the impact of our work at County Durham Money Advice Centre.

So far, from January to September we've helped resolve an incredible £2,318,751 in debt and helped people gain an additional £148,258 in income! 🙌🏻

For Advice Week, we’re sharing how the right support can make a real difference 🧡

A retired couple came to County Durham Money Advice Centre after receiving an eviction notice due to rent arrears and struggling to manage their finances.

Our team helped them identify unnecessary direct debits, take control of their spending and arrange affordable payments with their landlord and other creditors.

After making regular payments for several months, the threat of eviction has stopped, and the couple are now in a much better position to manage their money and bills.

This Advice Week, we want to remind you that free money advice can help you find a way forward, even when things feel overwhelming.

❄️ Can we beat last year's total?

In 2025, our Tesco Winter Collection collected an incredible 5,384kg of food and toiletries, helping provide around 6,730 meals for local people facing hardship.

This November, we're hoping to make an even bigger difference! 🛒

With your support, we’d love to increase that total and help even more people across our community - but we need volunteers to encourage donations in the below Tesco stores to make it happen! 🙌🏻

This Advice Week, we wanted to introduce you to Tracey, our Manager at County Durham Money Advice Centre! 👋🏻

Before becoming Manager, Tracey worked as a Debt Adviser, supporting people to manage their finances and work towards a more stable future.

Our debt advisers provide free, confidential and non-judgemental support, helping people understand their finances, create realistic budgets and check whether they're entitled to benefits or other financial support.

They can also help prioritise debts, explain different debt solutions, negotiate with creditors on your behalf (with your permission) and offer guidance if you're facing court proceedings or bailiff action.
