Hi folks, if you are planning on popping in tonight with donations, the shop will now open slightly later tonight due to broken down train at Dunfermline City…

Normal service should be resumed by around 6.30pm. Apologies if you have been affected.

As Volunteers Week draws to a close, we wanted to explain a bit more about the range of roles our volunteers undertake:

- Sorter: which involves sorting through the donations we receive to quality check each individual item and store in the correct ages.

- Picker: which involves selecting clothes for clothing parcels and doing a further quality check on items selected.

- Ironer/Finisher: which involves a final quality check and ironing the clothes to prepare them for the families to receive.

If this sounds like something you would like to get involved with and you have a few hours spare on Monday/Wednesday/Friday mornings or Thursday/Sunday afternoons, please email us at [email protected]

It’s day 3 of Volunteers’ Week and today we hear from our lovely volunteers who tell us why they give up their time to help us ❤️

“I wanted to get involved in a local Charity and give something back to the community.”

“I saw a post on Facebook and decided it was a worthy cause to be involved with.”

“I have time to spare and it is so worthwhile. It’s hard to believe there is a need for this in this day and age. Also its good to re-use and recycle. CCBD is a wonderful charity and it’s a fantastic way to help families in need.”

Volunteering is a vital component of UK society, with millions contributing their time and skills annually across Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland.

Did you know…..

⭐ 14.2 million people in the UK have formally volunteered at least once a month

⭐ Volunteering added £4.6 billion in productivity gains to the UK economy in 2024

⭐ 25 million people in the UK volunteered informally at least once in the year

These statistics highlight the remarkable contributions of volunteers across the UK. Together we can continue to grow the impact of volunteering and create stronger, more connected communities.

If you would like to get involved and are interested in volunteering with us, send us a message via Facebook.

Today marks the start of Volunteers’ Week which runs from 1st - 7th June every year and is an opportunity to recognise the amazing volunteers who give up their time to help us. They really are the beating heart of the Children’s Clothing Bank Dunfermline.

Volunteers’ Week is a time to celebrate and inspire. To show that there’s more than one way to volunteer and encourage people to be the change that we, as a community, want to see.

Over the coming days, we’ll be posting more about the work our volunteers do and if it sounds like something you’re interested in, we’ll explain how you can get involved.
