Our scouts recently had an amazing weekend camp near Morpeth. Over the weekend they went surfing at Druridge Bay, cooked meals over open fires, took part in wide games and built bottle rockets to carry eggs and return them safely to the ground. An excellent weekend with a great group of scouts learning Skills for Life.

Just before half term we were thrilled to invest our first ever Squirrel Scouts in to our Scouting family at Dipton. Squirrels are our youngest section for 4 to 6 year olds. We are sure our youngest members will enjoy many years of fun and adventures.

Tonight was our first ever Squirrel Scout session. It was wonderful to meet our new Squirrels and see them enjoying the games, stories and crafts. Well done to the Squirrels and ofcourse our new Squirrel volunteers.

Well done to our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Guides (and their parents) who took part in the Big Spring Clean today, picking up litter around Dipton. Over 20 bags of litter collected. We are very proud of you all.

Our Beaver Scouts have had an Out Of This World camp staying at our HQ in Dipton. Over the weekend they completed their Space badge. Activities included going to the Planetarium at Great North Museum, Newcastle, learning about rockets, completing a "Space Walk" and taking part in Laser Tag.

Our Scout Section have recently taken the plunge and taken part in Scuba Diving with Aquanorth at South Shields. The session started with snorkelling, followed by the Scuba Diving. Congratulations to the Scouts who all achieved their PADI Discover Scuba Diving Award.

Our exciting plans for a new Squirrel Scout Section for 4 to 6 year olds are progressing very well and we are on track to start Squirrels after the Easter Holidays.
We have already had a couple of amazing volunteers put their names down to help run the section and just need a couple more.
This is an age when minds are fizzing, when energy and curiosity levels are sky high, when little lives are full of wow and wonder.
Set them climbing the tree. Who knows how far they’ll reach?

A quick look back at some of our adventures in 2025. There were far too many for one short movie, but we have tried to fit as many as possible in to just two minutes. From our Biggest Ever Group Camp to paddle boarding and coasteering, it was another incredible year.
We are looking forward to many new activities and adventures in 2026, as well as opening a second Beaver Scout Colony and a new Squirrel section for 4 to 6 year olds.

At the end of 2025 our Scouts took part in a weekend camp staying at our HQ. The weekend started with a spectacular night hike, with shooting stars and the northern lights appearing. On the Saturday they went to the Centre for Life for Ice Skating and then enjoyed the Centre itself, before going to Laser Tag. Sunday was some challenges, including an escape room and games. A very busy and fun filled weekend.

We are delighted to announce that we are looking for amazing people to help us open a new Squirrel Scout section in 2026.

Squirrels are the newest branch of the Scouts family tree. Where 4-6 year olds can join in too.
This is an age when minds are fizzing, when energy and curiosity levels are sky high, when little lives are full of wow and wonder.
Set them climbing the tree. Who knows how far they’ll reach? But we’ll need your help to make this all happen.
