Our Young Leaders headed to Switzerland last week as part of a district trip. It sounds like they sure had a great time!

🇨🇭 What an adventure!

After two years of planning and fundraising, 48 members of Blaydon and District Scouts travelled from Ryton to Adelboden for an unforgettable Swiss adventure!

From high ropes and Alpine swimming to Interlaken, Kandersteg International Scout Centre and plenty more, our Explorers and Network members made memories to last a lifetime. We even celebrated a birthday and invested four Explorer Scouts while away!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make Switzerland – Adelboden 2026 possible. An absolute blast! 🇨🇭

Today we celebrate an incredible milestone for Brian “Skip” Stubbs, who marks 50 years as Group Scout Leader — now known as Lead Volunteer — at 1st Chopwell Scout Group.

Skip first started volunteering with the group in 1969, before stepping into the lead role on 19th May 1976, a position he still proudly holds today.

Thank you, Skip, for five decades of dedication, leadership, friendship, and inspiration to generations of young people and volunteers. What an amazing achievement! 💜⚜️

Scouts from across Blaydon & District were put through their paces today at our annual First Aid Competition in Edmundbyers.

With 7 challenging scenarios testing their skills, teamwork, and quick thinking, it was a fantastic day all round—ending with a joint win for 1st Chopwell and 1st Winlaton.

Our Beavers had a fantastic time taking part in the very first Sherlock Shield on 29th March at 1st Winlaton HQ!

They showed brilliant teamwork, problem solving and determination as they tackled code breaking, puzzles and challenges to solve the mystery of the missing cake.

While we didn’t bring the shield home this year, we’re incredibly proud of how well they all did and the great attitude they showed throughout the day.
