We’re planning something a little different for 2027

How would you like to take on a tandem skydive with the Red Devils, the Army Parachute Display Team, and raise money for Felix Fund at the same time?

Jump For Felix will give supporters the opportunity to take the leap in 2027, raising vital funds to help us continue supporting the EOD & Search community.

Kenneth Howorth, GM, was a British explosives officer with London's Metropolitan Police Service who was killed whilst attempting to defuse a bomb planted by the Provisional Irish Republican Army in Oxford Street.
Ken Howorth served for twenty-three years with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC) with postings to Austria, Japan, Tripoli in Libya, Hong Kong and various UK bases. He reached the rank of Warrant Officer Class 1 (Conductor) before leaving to join the Metropolitan Police Service as a civilian explosives officer in 1973.
On 26th October 1981, police received warnings that bombs on a busy shopping street in central London would explode within thirty minutes. A booby-trapped device, was discovered in the basement toilet of a Wimpy restaurant on Oxford Street. While attempting to defuse the bomb, he was killed instantly when it detonated. He was posthumously awarded the George Medal for gallantry.

Cpl James Oakland, aged 26, deployed two months early as a battlefield casualty replacement prior to the rest of the company for Op HERRICK 11. On arrival he was deployed to a Forward Operating Base as the Weapons Intelligence Detachment Commander in the Gereshk area of Helmand province. Embedded within the Battle Group, his duties included direct support to improvised explosive device (IED) disposal teams, scientific exploitation of devices and support to Battle Group patrols. He joined the Army in January 2002 and passed out into the Intelligence Corps. In 2003 he transferred to the Royal Military Police and attended Phase 2 training at the Royal Military Police Training School, Chichester. Cpl Oakland died after being mortally wounded by an improvised explosive device on a foot patrol in the Gereshk region of Helmand province on 22nd October 2009. He was conducting a route search to clear devices to allow the Battle Group freedom of movement.

Cpl David Barnsdale, from Tring in Hertfordshire, was 16 years old when he joined the Royal Engineers in September 2002. During his four years in 26 Armoured Engineer Squadron, part of 32 Engineer Regiment, saw him promoted to LCpl and complete operational tours of Iraq and Afghanistan. Posted to 33 Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) in October 2009, he comfortably passed his role-specific training and quickly settled into his new discipline. At the top of his peer group and already a Corporal, he was in line for promotion at the earliest opportunity. Cpl Barnsdale deployed on his second tour of Afghanistan in September 2010 with the Counter-Improvised Explosive Device Task Force. Trained as the commander of a Royal Engineers Search Team, he was responsible for the detection of improvised explosive devices in areas deemed to be high risk. On 19 October 2010, his search team were deployed operating in an area east of Gereshk, working towards the construction of a new checkpoint and patrol base to enhance the security of the local population. During the task Cpl Barnsdale was caught in the blast from an IED which resulted in his death.

have created a 1980s British Bomb Disposal (EOD) Operator in range of scale sizes from 1/76 to 1/16. Whilst the current version will require painting in the style of your choice, we are investigating the possibility of getting a bronze finish akin to previous presentation pieces and will keep you updated.
