SOFEA

SOFEA We work with young people to build their life skills, and distribute food with our partner FareShare Contact us: [email protected]

SOFEA was founded in 2014, with the focus of enabling people to transform their lives. We are a charity head quartered in Didcot with a second location added in Milton Keynes. Using surplus food, we distribute to thousands of people per week, across our local communities. We work with disadvantaged people, (mostly young people) helping them gain qualifications in English and Math, providing work e

xperience and offering wellbeing support. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to find out further information on how you can support us. We offer corporate volunteering days, and various fund-raising events throughout the year.

🌈 This Pride Month, SOFEA stands with love, respect and equality for all. We celebrate every identity, every story and every voice that makes our community stronger and more inclusive.

Pride month is a time to raise awareness of the LGBTQIA+ community, their contributions and the ongoing challenges they face in search of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; both globally and in the UK.

We recognise that true inclusion means listening, learning and taking action, and we remain committed to creating spaces where everyone feels seen, valued and empowered to be their authentic self.

It’s that time of year again across our sites in Didcot and Milton Keynes when our young people complete and reflect on their GCSEs.

This is a significant milestone in their journeys with SOFEA, and we are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved. For some of our young people, sitting exams in a mainstream educational setting is not a viable option, so reaching this point takes determination, resilience and a great deal of hard work.

Whether this was their first time sitting GCSEs or a chance to improve on previous results, every effort deserves recognition. Each step forward shows their commitment to growing personally and professionally, and that is something to celebrate.

At SOFEA, we continue to support our young people through every stage, encouraging them to build confidence and keep progressing, whatever their next step may be.
From all the staff and volunteers at SOFEA, congratulations to our young people on completing their GCSEs this year. We are proud of you.

On behalf of SOFEA’s Trustees, we’d like to share a heartfelt thank you to all our incredible volunteers this Volunteers Week. 💚

''It's Volunteers Week when the contribution of volunteers across the UK is celebrated and recognised. Every volunteer at SOFEA makes a difference. Not only do you enable what we do through your support, giving your time and energy but importantly you demonstrate to our young people the value of giving back and contributing to your community. This is an important part of their experience at SOFEA.

So whether you help us several times a week or once a month, whether you work in the warehouse, on the vans, in our larders, in the office, in our education team, GOO or our Nourish and Flourish kitchen THANK YOU!!

We genuinely couldn't do it without you and as Trustees we really value your contribution.''

It is Volunteers appreciation week and we want to shout out every single person who gives their time to SOFEA. 💚

From our warehouses and community larders to the everyday moments that keep us going, your support makes everything possible.

Because of you, we can continue serving our community, caring for the environment, and most importantly, showing up for our young people.

Thank you. Truly. 🙏

It was fantastic to welcome volunteers from Amazon Web Services to our FareShare and Felix food redistribution warehouse in Didcot at SOFEA, and we are very grateful for the time you dedicated to supporting us!

Your role in preparing food parcels for our beneficiaries made a significant difference on the day. By contributing to the handling and redistribution of surplus stock, you helped ensure that good quality food could be passed on efficiently to our larders and community partners, supporting people who rely on these services.

We truly appreciate the energy, teamwork and positive attitude you brought with you. Support like yours allows us to reach more people while reducing food waste.

We hope the day was enjoyable and rewarding, and we would love to welcome you back to SOFEA!

If you're interested in volunteering with us, please contact us at [email protected].
