A huge thank you to Zoe from Everyone Active (Waverley) who attended our staff training day, where she provided gym equipment induction training for Jigsaw School and JigsawPlus staff.

Over 40 members of staff took part today and learnt how to use gym equipment safely so they can confidently support our pupils and adult learners during fitness activities.

We are grateful for this long-standing community partnership with Everyone Active who provide this valuable training free of charge. Thank you! 💙

Taking fundraising to new heights! 🪂

We are pleased to share that a wonderful team from PumpServ and Catercall will be taking on a skydive next April to raise funds for Jigsaw.

A huge thank you to Carrie, Bernard, Jeremy, Liza, Chris, Andy, Amy and Julie who are our eight brave jumpers!

We are grateful that they have chosen to support Jigsaw whilst completing this brilliant challenge.

A huge thank you to the fabulous volunteers from Quantios, who have been busy giving Jigsaw School’s PE Hall and corridor a fresh new look today!

The team volunteered their time to support Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity that uses the power of rugby to help transform the lives of disadvantaged children. Wooden Spoon Charity, which like Quantios is based in Fleet, kindly arranged the volunteering project at Jigsaw.

We are incredibly grateful to Wooden Spoon for choosing to support us and to Quantios for giving their staff the opportunity to volunteer and make a real difference.

We are sure our pupils and staff will be delighted to see the transformation when they return after half term.

We are proud of our Sixth Form pupils who have recently recommenced their weekly gym sessions at Cranleigh Leisure Centre.

During these sessions, pupils independently follow visual and written gym schedules that they have created themselves. These include warm-up activities, exercises using a range of gym equipment and cool-down exercises.

It has been fantastic to see pupils developing their confidence, independence and healthy lifestyle habits while working towards their personal goals.

A huge thank you to The Arts Society (Surrey Hills) for their generous funding of a Black History Month art project, which enabled our pupils to experience the joy that art can bring.

Inspired by the vibrant work of pioneering abstract artist Alma Thomas, our pupils explored creativity and self-expression through a series of colourful art workshops. Together, they created large-scale artworks reflecting Alma's distinctive mosaic-style approach and her belief that art should celebrate beauty and happiness.

The project provided a great opportunity for pupils to learn about an influential Black artist while developing their own artistic skills.

Our Sixth Form pupils are developing valuable skills for the future through a range of practical learning opportunities both in school and within our social enterprises.

Pupils successfully ran a Jacket Potato Enterprise project today, taking responsibility for every stage of the process, from managing pre-orders and preparing ingredients to serving customers, handling payments and delivering lunches across the school. The project provided excellent opportunities to develop teamwork, organisation, communication and customer service skills.

Some pupils have also been attending work experience placements at our social enterprise, Café on the Park, where they are gaining hands-on experience in front-of-house roles. Tasks such as wiping tables, re-stocking cutlery and completing end-of-day duties are helping pupils build confidence, independence and important employability skills in a real workplace setting.

These experiences are an important part of Sixth Form life, helping pupils develop the workplace skills that will support them as they move towards adulthood and future employment opportunities.

Science Week has been out of this world at Jigsaw School! 🚀

This year's theme is Space and pupils have been enjoying a range of exciting activities exploring our solar system through stories, music, learning and discovery.

A highlight of the week was an immersive Virtual Reality workshop delivered by The Education Group. Wearing VR headsets, pupils were transported into space to explore planets, moons and stars, experiencing the wonder of the universe in a truly memorable way.

As part of Science Week, pupils have also been learning about Mae Jemison, the first Black woman to travel into space, linking their learning with our Black History Month activities.
