❤️ RECOVERY. HOPE. COMMUNITY. ❤️

On Saturday, our Community Leader Jess attended the Weston Recovery Festival 2026 in Weston-super-Mare — and this year she was joined by one of our new residents from Andrew House, who is at the beginning of their own recovery journey. ❤️

Held in the Italian Gardens, the day brought the recovery community together to celebrate unity, hope, recovery and connection, while challenging the stigma that can still surround addiction and recovery.

There was live music, the Rising Voices Recovery Choir, wellbeing activities, recovery organisations, inspiring stories from people with lived experience and the annual North Somerset Recovery Walk, bringing people together with one powerful message:

For someone starting a new chapter at Andrew House, days like this can be incredibly important.

Recovery isn't just about leaving something behind.

It's about discovering what lies ahead.

It's about meeting people who understand the journey, hearing stories from those who have walked the road before you and realising that you are part of a much bigger recovery community.

We're incredibly proud that Jess was there representing Changing Lives and Andrew House, but even more importantly, that one of our newest residents was able to experience a day filled with people demonstrating that recovery is possible and there is hope for the future.

Every recovery journey has to start somewhere.

For our new residents at Andrew House, that journey is just beginning. ❤️

✝️❤️ SUNDAY THOUGHT – IT’S OKAY TO CHANGE DIRECTION ❤️✝️

Sometimes we make decisions with the very best intentions.

At the time, they feel right.

We pray.
We listen.
We consider what we know.
And we take the path we genuinely believe is the right one.

But time has a way of revealing things we couldn't see at the beginning.

And occasionally, we have to be brave enough to admit:

“Maybe this wasn't the right path after all.”

There is no shame in that.

Wisdom isn't always about making the perfect decision the first time.

Sometimes wisdom is recognising when something isn't working and having the courage and humility to change direction.

That can be difficult.

We can become so committed to a decision that changing it feels like admitting failure.

But perhaps the greater mistake would be continuing down the wrong road simply because we're afraid to turn around.

📖 “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
Proverbs 16:9

At Changing Lives, we see the power of changing direction every day.

Through Andrew House, people make the courageous decision to leave behind old patterns, confront difficult experiences and begin building a different future.

Recovery teaches us something that applies to every one of us:

Where you are today doesn't have to be where you remain tomorrow.

The same is true in life, in relationships, in work and even in leadership.

Sometimes circumstances change.

Sometimes new information comes to light.

Sometimes experience teaches us something we couldn't have known before.

And sometimes God quietly reminds us that it's time to take another path.

Changing direction doesn't erase the journey you've already taken.

You take the lessons with you.

You take the experience with you.

You take the wisdom with you.

And then you move forward.

So perhaps today we should worry a little less about whether every decision we've made was right…

…and ask instead:

“God, what is the right thing for me to do now?” 🙏

Because admitting something needs to change isn't failure.

Sometimes it's the beginning of something better. ❤️

✝️ SUNDAY THOUGHT ❤️

“If you woke up sober today, you’re already winning. Don’t let anything make you forget that.”

There is something incredibly powerful in those words.

For someone walking the road of recovery, waking up sober might look like an ordinary morning to the rest of the world — but God knows the battle it may have taken to get there.

He knows the temptation you resisted.
He knows the thoughts you fought.
He knows the moments when giving up felt easier.
And He knows the courage it took to choose one more day.

Sometimes we become so focused on how far we still have to go that we forget to thank God for how far He has already brought us.

Recovery isn't always about huge milestones. Sometimes the victory is simply:

I made it through yesterday.
I woke up today.
And I'm choosing recovery again. ❤️

The Bible reminds us:

“His mercies are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:22–23

Every morning is another opportunity. Another fresh start. Another reminder that your past does not have to determine your future.

And this week, that message feels especially meaningful as we have welcomed some new residents to Andrew House, ready to begin their own recovery journeys. ❤️

For them, this is the start of something new. New surroundings, new routines, new challenges and, God willing, a new chapter filled with hope, healing and possibility.

Please keep them in your prayers as they take those first steps. The beginning of any journey can feel daunting, but no one has to walk it alone.

If yesterday wasn't your best day, God's grace didn't run out overnight.

Today is still here.

So this Sunday, celebrate the victories that other people might never see. Be proud of every step forward, however small it feels.

One day at a time. One decision at a time. One prayer at a time.

Keep going.

Because while you may not always be able to see what God is doing in your story…

there is always hope and a future. ❤️🙏
