Another hectic month for Avon Fire & Rescue Service and crews from Clevedon Firefighters with us finishing August with 55 shouts including a number of serious building and industrial fires as well as 3 bleary eyed “all nighters”.

The crews from Clevedon all have other full-time jobs so this month has been another long month where work, personal and other commitments have been frequently interrupted, having to take a back seat.

Hopefully with cooler (and wetter) weather things will start to calm down.

🚨 We are aware that some residents are reporting seeing and smelling smoke across the area.

The smoke is believed to be linked to significant fires in South Wales, with prevailing winds carrying smoke across our area.

If smoke is particularly noticeable in your area, we recommend keeping windows and doors closed where possible as a precaution.

With conditions currently very dry, we are urging everyone to remain vigilant and take extra care to help prevent fires.

If you see or suspect a fire, please call 999 and ask for the fire and rescue service.

Please share this information with friends, family and neighbours who may be affected.
