Last week, Bedminster crews were called to a large skip fire in a garden. The fire spread quickly and was close to catching the house alight, but poor parking on the street meant crews lost vital minutes getting water on the fire. They had to pull over 100 metres of hose to reach the property - a delay that could have had serious consequences.

Please consider how you park in narrow streets and think: could a fire engine get through here if there was an emergency.

Thankfully, crews extinguished the fire in time and the family home was unharmed.

Our defibrillator has a friend!

We now also have a bleed kit installed on the outside of our station which is available to the public 24/7.

Inside the bleed locker is specialised equipment used to control catastrophic bleeding that cannot be controlled by simple dressing, compressing and elevation.

Trauma Teddies are small, handmade knitted or crocheted teddy bears given by emergency services (police, fire, ambulance) and hospitals to children experiencing traumatic incidents. They provide immediate comfort, act as a distraction, and help emergency responders build rapport with distressed children.

A big thank you to Anita Neads and Jane Bull for supplying us with lots of trauma teddies so much so we have asked other stations round the service if they require any and 20 have already been snapped up by Bedminster Fire station.

As much as we appreciate the donations we don't require any at this moment in time so please keep an eye on our socials as we will update there if and when we require more teddies.

Thanks again

A big shout out to the student from Clevedon School who, whilst walking to school spotted a fire outside a property on Old Street this morning and alerted residents so they could evacuate and call us.

Fortunately the fire was discovered early and was doused by residents prior to our arrival but could have been much worse if undiscovered.

The fire is believed to be accidental.

Thanks for everyone that came down to Tesco yesterday to talk to us about recruitment.

After a day working on plans for the future, we stopped by at Clevedon Fireman Archie Hancock’s grave at St Andrews church on the anniversary of his death on duty during WWII.
If you’d like to know more about his life local historian Phil Curme has an article on his website
