Last Sunday team members were at the River Trent on Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire border training with AquaEye, our Ruth Lee Ltd manikin, and our underwater ROVs

We also invited representatives of Nottinghamshire Police Dive Team and Lincolnshire Lowland Search and Rescue to provide them a demonstration of how the AquaEye works

We'll be raising Water Safety Awareness for both people and dogs, and you can try out throwlines PFDs and other equipment, and we'll have some free Water Safety packs for children

A reminder that if your dog gets into difficulty whether inland or coastal, the first thing to do is Call 999 immediately and ask for Gire & Rescue or Coastguard.

Thankfully in this circumstance both owner and dog are safe

Our crews will be down at Rother Valley Country Park tomorrow between 11am and 2pm (Wednesday 10 June) to do some water rescue training and share lifesaving safety advice with the public as part of a day of community action.

Crews from Rotherham, Dearne and Maltby fire stations will also be leading educational sessions at local secondary schools as part of the day.

🚒 Water safety event at Crookes Valley Park this Friday

This Friday, our crews will be at Crookes Valley Park between 10:30am and 2pm, sharing vital water safety advice to help keep you and your family safe around open water.

💧 While you’re there, you can:

- Watch live demonstrations of how to use a throw line safely
- Learn what to do if someone gets into difficulty in the water
- Speak to firefighters and ask questions about staying safe outdoors

Knowing what to do in an emergency can save lives. If someone is in trouble in the water, always call 999 and never enter the water yourself. Using rescue equipment like a throw line from the bank is the safest option.

Come along, get involved, and pick up lifesaving knowledge.
