Role of the Week - Funeral Team

The funeral team, ensure that our funerals run well through setting up, supporting
(nothing up front) and on occasions operating the sound for funerals. By their nature, funerals are not predictable when they come in so when we get a booking we email out the team to see who can help. You will need to:

• Open up church 1 hour before the funeral
• Set up the church, minimal but includes reserved signs and lighting candles and
making sure things are all in place
• Welcome those coming to the service
• Support the clergy, organist and Funeral Director
• Record number of people in attendance
• Run the sound (if required)
• Count the collection and record
• Collect the required paperwork (there is a checklist!)
• Lock up the building

Full training and a buddy system is in place.

Time Needed / Commitment: Approx 2.5 hours per funeral - Ad hoc as to when we get funerals in (usual daytime Monday to Friday)

Paul’s Ordination and Celebration Picnic
Saturday 27th June - Paul's Ordination, 10.30am Blackburn Cathedral
Sunday 28th June - Celebration Picnic, 12.15pm Church Lawn

Paul has been training for the last 3 years and is getting ordained on Saturday 27th June, 10.30am at Blackburn Cathedral (ie he will become a Rev!). If you would like to attend Paul’s ordination then please can you email Gail ([email protected]) so that we can let the Cathedral know numbers.

We will be celebrating as a church family on the Sunday (28th June) with a church family picnic at 12.15pm on the church lawn. It would be great to have everyone there to celebrate so do put the date in your diary and get planning your picnic!

In the meantime, please be praying for Paul as he approaches this fantastic occasion, he will be preparing personally and spiritually; and we can't wait to see his hard work, dedication, and commitment to his ministry and Euxton be recognised!
