A notice for our users:

As you’ll soon see we have Manna construction starting work on our extension and refurb from today. This week they are working on setting up their site compound next week you’ll start to see more progress on the building work.

We now know that they will start stripping out the coffee room, middle storage room and back corridor (sometimes known as Whiffen’s passage) from Monday the 22nd. By then everything needs to be removed from those spaces. That includes all the cupboards.

Manna have offered to help in moving the cabinets themselves so we are asking all users to empty their cupboards over the weekend and place the contents in the middle of the Main Hall (leaving the perimeter free for the cupboards). You will then need to come and place your stuff back in your cupboards on between Monday afternoon and Tuesday evening.

This is shorter notice than we would have liked to give but the construction programme is finally moving and this is one of those hiccups that occur along the way. Please get in touch with Brian if you have any queries.

Don't forget we have a Whatsapp channel where we'll be posting news and updates on the building project for users of the premises: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb7WAtNCHDyuIdbuc61U

20/05/2026

Today we're celebrating The Meeting Place's fifth birthday.

Since we opened in May 2021 we've had 19,974 people sign in to our sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays!

19/05/2026

In the five years since opening we've served over 19,180 cups of coffee at The Meeting Place!

We have no idea how many cups of tea but it's probably more!

This week we're celebrating five years since the Meeting Place began. The Meeting Place is a drop-in for anyone who needs it on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Initially opened in response to the increase in loneliness and social isolation after the lockdowns The Meeting Place opens every Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-2pm and offers support to a wide cross section of the community.

The Meeting Place - our drop-in on Wednesdays and Thursdays turns 5 next week and we're inviting you to join us to celebrate - at 11am on Wednesday 20th May.

The Meeting Place in 2021 as lockdown lifted in response to the isolation and loneliness highlighted during the pandemic. Next week we'll be posting about The Meeting Place - its impact during those 5 years and looking at how its changed in response to the evolving needs of the community.

We've set aside a corner of one of our lawns for No Mow May - and it might stay for Let It Bloom June. We'll be letting this small area go wild for the benefit of the wildlife that calls our grounds home. We can't wait to see what develops.
