A lovely time was had by all at Jenny’s art class 🎨💛

There was plenty of creativity, laughter, conversation and support shared throughout the session, with everyone enjoying the chance to relax, connect and express themselves through art.

At Other Halves, activities like these are about so much more than the finished picture. They create moments of friendship, confidence and connection for people navigating the challenges that dementia can bring.

Thank you to Jenny for creating such a warm and welcoming space for everyone involved.

💙 Dementia Action Week - 18 – 24 May 💙

This week is Dementia Action Week – a time to raise awareness, start conversations and support those living with dementia and the people who care for them.

We will continue to raise awareness of dementia, the UK’s biggest killer, by sharing the stories behind the Forget Me Not 💙 Dementia Action Week | Alzheimer's Society

Caring for someone with dementia can feel overwhelming, isolating and emotional 💭
But you don’t have to do it alone.

At Other Halves, we bring carers together 🤝
✨ To connect with others who understand
✨ To take part in activities and trips
✨ To have something to look forward to
✨ To simply have a moment for themselves

Sometimes, just knowing someone else “gets it” can make all the difference 💛

If you or someone you know is caring for a loved one with dementia, we’re here to support you.

Who Is Other Halves For?

Other Halves supports people who are caring for a partner or loved one living with dementia. We know how lonely, exhausting and overwhelming that journey can feel and how important it is to talk to others who understand without explanation.

Our members are carers at all stages of the dementia journey. Whether you’re newly navigating a diagnosis or have been caring for many years, you’ll find compassion, empathy and friendship here.

If you’re unsure whether Other Halves is right for you, we’re always happy to have a chat. There’s no pressure, just support when you need it.

An evening together after the theatre 🎭

After enjoying a trip to the Civic Theatre, members of our Solo group spent some time together sharing a bite to eat, conversation, and companionship.

The Solo group was created for those whose partners have sadly passed away. When you have been part of the Other Halves community through dementia care, the friendships and understanding built along the way don’t simply disappear.

Even after a partner is gone, those connections remain and the Solo group offers a gentle space where people can continue to support one another, share memories, and enjoy time together.

Moments like these remind us that no one has to navigate this journey alone.

If you or someone you know would benefit from being part of a supportive and understanding community, we would love to hear from you.

Time to Talk Day – 5 February 2026 Every Conversation Matters

Starting a conversation about mental health isn’t always easy, but even the smallest chat can make a big difference. Time to Talk Day is a reminder that opening up, listening and checking in can help people feel less alone.

At Other Halves, we know that caring for someone with dementia can take a real emotional toll. Many carers carry their worries quietly, often putting themselves last. Today is a gentle nudge to pause, reach out, and talk — whether that’s with a friend, a fellow carer, or someone you trust.

Simple ways to get talking today:

➡️ Check in with someone and ask how they’re really doing
➡️ Join us for a coffee and a chat at one of our meetups
➡️ Share a conversation over lunch or a cuppa
➡️ Help raise awareness by talking about mental health in your community

Let’s keep breaking down the stigma around mental health and remind one another that support is always available.

Have a conversation today and help make talking the norm.
