Gorkha Development Scheme

Gorkha Development Scheme Gorkha Development Scheme is a small charity founded in 1988, with the aim of working with the community in Gorkha, Nepal. Our current focus is to:

1.

We work with our sister charity in Gorkha, and have been involved in many projects over the years. Develop children’s health awareness through training, and improving sanitation facilities.
2. Sponsor children in school, to ensure they complete their education.
3. Encourage women’s participation in the community.
4. Encourage volunteering experiences in Nepal.
5. Enable medical students to underta

ke their electives in the local hospital.
6. We also encourage the community to develop proposals for projects which may help the community in some way. Run by a small group of Volunteers in the South East of England, we have several fundraising events a year, and aim to raise as much money as possible, with all money raised going directly to the projects in Nepal. If you would like to get involved as a volunteer, or if you would like to help fundraising, sponsor a child or sponsor one of our other projects then please contact us, we would love to hear from you!

All the money will go to help and support the children with uniforms, essential equipment and backpacks, women's health groups, teacher training and much more in Gorkha. See our website to learn more about what we do. www.nepal.co.uk

Teacher Training at Siranchowk Rural Municipality

The training sessions were delivered by our most recent volunteers Sam & Tess, and Hannah, and GDHEDS president Laxman.
This will help the teachers in developing English language skills, build confidence, and support approaches to teaching, encouraging interactive engagement for pupils to help further their learning.

Working with Teachers to share skills for sustainability .

Tess worked closely with one teacher and student in particular on building a programme of activities which supported the students development alongside working with her teacher to establish ways of enabling the student to access the classroom environment more easily. It was such a privilege to be part of both the students and teacher journey together and to see them grow and build a bond where they were able to communicate and build strategies together to support the students' needs.

Improving writing skills.
Magical coloured lines - a simple tiny change but it made all the difference to this little girl. By colouring the lines it made it easier for her to keep her words from floating which increased her confidence to participate in the writing task.
