FND Action

FND Action We are a charity supporting those diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) in the UK

In October 2016, FND Action became the first charity to be registered in the UK to support those diagnosed with a Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). We are dedicated to supporting anyone affected by FND; including those diagnosed, families and caregivers. We work to:

✨ Raise awareness of FND among the public and healthcare professionals.
✨ Provide support through peer-led groups and online c

ommunities.
✨ Campaign for better understanding, treatment, and care pathways.
✨ Collaborate with researchers and clinicians to drive progress in FND care. Our mission is to ensure no-one in the UK faces FND alone, and to empower the community with information, support, and a collective voice for change.

Researchers at King's College London are now recruiting for a new study looking at the use of brain-computer interface neurofeedback rehabilitation and VR in people with FND. This will involve attending several face-to-face visits at Denmark Hill over a 2-3 week period. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.

RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS NEEDED

EngageFND: Enhancing Community OT and Self-Management for FND.

Researchers at University College London (UCL) are looking for adults with FND to take part in the EngageFND study, exploring people's experiences of community-based OT and self-management.

The researchers want to hear about what helped, what didn't, what made therapy easier or harder to engage with, and what support could improve community OT for people with FND in the future.

⬥ Aged 18+ with FND
⬥ Received community-based OT with a rehabilitation component for FND within the last 10 years
⬥ Around 60 minute interview, online or by telephone
⬥ £55 gift card for taking part

Your experiences could help inform how community-based occupational therapy and self-management support for FND are developed in the future.

FND can affect anyone, including healthcare professionals. Alicia’s symptoms began suddenly whilst on holiday abroad and within days her life had changed completely.

Her story reflects the uncertainty many people face before receiving a diagnosis, as well as the profound impact FND can have on independence, work and daily life.

💜 Read Alicia’s story below, that she kindly shared for FND Awareness Day UK (25th March).

📢 Contact Your MP About FND

We were pleased to see Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) recently raised in Parliament. Awareness matters, but real change also happens when MPs hear directly from the people they represent.

If you live with FND, care for someone with FND, or have experienced challenges relating to diagnosis, treatment, education, benefits or support, consider writing to your MP and sharing your experiences.

To help you get started, we’ve created a new resource which includes information on how to contact your MP, and guidance on what to include in your letter or email.

Every conversation helps raise awareness of FND and the impact it has on individuals and families across the UK.

FND in the news..

Congratulations to Rebecca Stevens on winning the disabled driving championship at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. 🏆

Rebecca, who lives with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), hopes her story will show others that disabilities do not stop people from achieving their dreams.

FND can present many challenges, but it does not define a person’s ambitions, talents, or potential. We are delighted to see Rebecca’s achievement recognised and wish her every success for the future.

Well done Rebecca, and thank you for helping raise awareness of FND. 💜
