The Richard Whitehead Foundation The Richard Whitehead Foundation will support and inspire disabled people through sport

The Richard Whitehead Foundation is a small charity with big aspirations to create social change and use the power of sport for the benefit of disabled people. We believe in the impact of sport: the increased mental well-being; the confidence; the self-esteem; the social inclusion and employability which come from it. We want the disability community to be able to thrive and benefit from all these opportunities.

Halloween is creeping up on us... πŸŽƒπŸ‘»

Things are getting SPOOKTACULAR in Amersham as Nightmare on Charsley Close returns for 2026, and we're delighted to be one of the two charities they've chosen to support this year, alongside Fight for Sight.

The countdown is on to 31 October, when the full Halloween display will be revealed! From spooky decorations to Halloween lights, it's set to be a frightfully good display, all for a great cause!

A huge thank you to the organisers for choosing to support us. We know an incredible amount of hard work goes into creating a display like this, and it looks absolutely fantastic! πŸ‘

If you're in the Amersham area, why not pop along, enjoy the spooky atmosphere and show your support?

This week is Invisible Disabilities Week (18–24 October), a chance to recognise the experiences of people living with disabilities and health conditions that aren’t always immediately apparent.

It’s estimated that around 80% of disabilities are non-visible. These can include neurological, cognitive, sensory, mental health and chronic conditions.

Living with a non-visible condition can mean managing pain, fatigue or symptoms that change from day to day. People may also face assumptions about what they can do, or find that taking part in everyday activities means explaining their needs and asking for adjustments.

At the Richard Whitehead Foundation, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to be active and included in a way that works for them. By listening, being flexible and making activities accessible, we can help more people feel welcome.

A huge thank you to everyone at Dunkirk Primary School for their fantastic fundraising throughout the summer and beyond, raising an incredible Β£5,315.11 for The Richard Whitehead Foundation! πŸ’›

After smashing their original Β£2,500 target, they doubled their goal to Β£5,000 and surpassed that too!

They’ve organised and taken part in so many brilliant fundraising events, including their Sunrise to Sunset challenge, Break the Rules Day, the Robin Hood Mini Marathon and Half Marathon, alongside lots more!

From everyone at the Foundation, thank you to the pupils, staff and families for your enthusiasm, generosity and ongoing support. It means so much to us and helps more disabled people access sport and physical activity.

The children have also made this amazing video, which we’re delighted to share! πŸŽ₯
