🏏 Another fantastic Schools Cricket Festival comes to a close! 🏏

Today it was the turn of the Year 5 & 6 pupils from Cam Woodfield, Cam Hopton, Cam Everlands, Dursley, Croft, Sharpness and North Nibley, and what a day of cricket it was. There was plenty of skill, enthusiasm and sportsmanship on display throughout the festival.

Congratulations to Cam Woodfield 1, Cam Woodfield 2 and Cam Everlands 1, who all won their five matches. With teams level on wins, it came down to runs scored, with Cam Woodfield 2 emerging as overall winners. A fantastic achievement – well done to everyone involved! πŸ‘

As with yesterday’s festival, every pupil was a credit to their school and represented themselves brilliantly.

We would also like to put on record how proud we are of our young Cam Cricket Club players who gave up their time to help marshal the games, umpire and score throughout the event. They represented the club superbly and were a real credit to themselves, showing maturity, responsibility and a love for the game. The future of our club is certainly in safe hands. πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸ

A huge thank you also goes to our grounds team for preparing seven wickets and ensuring everything was ready despite the ongoing demands of preparing youth and senior pitches for the weekend.

Finally, thank you to everyone involved in organising the festival, and to the Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation and Chance to Shine for their continued support in enabling Cam Cricket Club to deliver cricket sessions in local schools and provide opportunities for so many young people to enjoy the game.

Another brilliant couple of days for cricket in our community. πŸπŸ‘πŸ–€πŸ’›

Another magical day of cricket at Cam Cricket Club as we welcomed local schools for our Year 3 & 4 Cricket Festival.

It was fantastic to see pupils from Cam Everlands, Cam Hopton, Cam Woodfield, Dursley, North Nibley, Croft and Sharpness showcasing their skills, enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the day. We witnessed some excellent team performances and plenty of individual moments of brilliance out on the pitch.

All of the schools should be incredibly proud of their pupils this evening. A huge well done to everyone who took part and helped make the festival such a success.

Congratulations to Croft School 2, who were crowned winners of the festival, just edging out Cam Woodfield 2 on runs scored after a closely contested day of cricket. Well done to both teams on their excellent performances.

Special thanks go to the teachers, volunteers, parents and families for their support, and to our superb Cam CC U13 and U15 players who did an outstanding job umpiring and scoring the games throughout the day.

We would also like to thank Rednock School for allowing the students to take a couple of days away from their studies to support this fantastic event.

A huge thank you also goes to the Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation and Chance to Shine, whose funding enables clubs like ours to deliver cricket sessions in local schools throughout the spring and summer. These sessions culminate in festivals such as today’s event, giving hundreds of young people the opportunity to experience and enjoy cricket in a fun and inclusive environment.

The excitement continues tomorrow when it is the turn of the Year 5 & 6 pupils to take centre stage for their festival.

Days like these highlight everything that is great about grassroots cricket and help inspire the next generation of players. Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation Chance to Shine

We welcomed 12 teams to Cam Cricket Club this morning for our U9s Festival, and what a fantastic morning of cricket it was!

Teams from Cam, Frocester, Kings Stanley, Stroud, Cirencester, Knowle, Hawkesbury and Rockhampton came together for a brilliant spectacle. Every player was a credit to their club, producing some outstanding moments of skill, enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the morning.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a success. From our car parking team who ensured everyone had a space, to our young Cam cricketers who helped set up, score and umpire the matches. Thanks also to the grounds team for preparing six wickets alongside their usual weekly commitments, the BBQ and refreshments crew who kept everyone fed and watered, and the admin team who planned and organised the event down to the finest detail.

A special thank you must also go to all of the coaches from every club. Your time, dedication and enthusiasm give these young players the opportunity to learn, develop and enjoy the game, and festivals like this simply wouldn’t happen without your commitment.

Finally, thank you to all the parents, families and supporters who came along to cheer on the next generation of cricketers. Your support helps make days like this so special.

Well done to everyone involved – a fantastic morning and a great showcase for youth cricket!

For his role in the U13s victory over Stinchcombe, Jack is the All Ecology POTM. He opened both the bowling and the batting. Bowled his two overs well, then carried his bat to see Cam complete their first win of the season. Great work Jack! 🐸
