We've been exploring Halloween sensory trays, using fine motor skills to pick up pumpkin seeds and developing our measuring skills whilst scooping and pouring cauldrons.

Braving the wet weather in our waterproofs, we've also been in search of muddy puddles to jump in!

Wishing you all a fantastic half term. We look forward to welcoming children back to setting on Tuesday 3rd November.

We're running a Christmas Raffle to help raise funds for a giant all weather sandpit and a sensory garden.

We're collecting prizes now, tickets go on sale just after half term and the raffle will be on drawn Thursday 10th December.

'Family Week' in setting this week provided lots of opportunities for children to talk about people who are special to them, including families and pets. It's lovely way to learn more about each other and tailor our provision to the children and the families we work with.

The children took paper home to add drawings or photos of their families. These were then returned to setting and shared during group discussions. We also painted pictures of special people and used the small world figures to represent and talk about them too!

This morning the children collected sticks from the garden and brought them inside to create their own clay hedgehogs.

They've also been using natural resources in their playdough making - adding juice from orange segments as well as cinnamon and star anise... it smelt great!

What a busy week we've had understanding more about the world around us and beyond!

We've watched the launch of Artemis 2, talked about the planets and the moon and used cardboard boxes as rockets in imaginative play.

We've also played with starry night sky playdough and shared the story "Whatever Next?"

A copy of 'Gruffalo Granny' was kindly donated to the setting - thanks very much!

The children adored listening to the story which also prompted lots of activities during sessions. Children gathered and examined various ingredients for their own Gruffalo stew. We then cooked and tasted the vegetables, noticing how each ingredient altered after cooking.

Later in the day the stew was added to the mud kitchen where children began making up their own stew recipes!

Other activities included paint stamping with apples and of course lots of fun in the garden!
