Our Youth Volunteering Programme at BCA is designed specifically for young people aged 14–17, offering the chance to get involved in caring for our local environment, developing new skills and making a real difference to our beautiful woodlands and green spaces.

We also welcome Duke of Edinburgh students who are passionate about conservation and would like to complete their volunteering hours with us.
It's a fantastic opportunity to:

BCA are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Woodland & Countryside Manager to join the team.

📍 Buxton, Derbyshire
💷 Circa £40,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience
🕒 Hours: 37.5 hours per week
📄 Contract: Permanent

Managing approximately 200 acres across 11 sites, this is an exciting opportunity to lead the conservation, management and development of our woodland and countryside estate, while helping shape our ambitious plans for the future.

As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, you’ll combine strategic leadership with hands-on conservation, working with our Woodland Ranger, volunteers, local communities and partners to:

🌱 Lead woodland management, habitat restoration and biodiversity projects.
🦉 Protect and enhance habitats for wildlife.
🤝 Build strong relationships with organisations including the Forestry Commission, Natural England and other partners.
🌳 Develop opportunities for community engagement, volunteering and environmental education.
💚 Help secure funding, explore new opportunities and support our ambition to expand our portfolio of landscape sites.

We’re looking for someone with proven experience in woodland, countryside or environmental management, a passion for nature and the leadership skills to turn ideas into action.

Join us at Poole's Cavern & Buxton Country Park on Sunday 13th December at 7pm for a very special evening of live music, Christmas favourites and plenty of festive spirit.

🎺 Fairfield Brass Band will open the evening with 45 minutes of festive brass favourites in our Visitor Centre, before a short interval and then a journey underground…

🎶 Christmas Sing-Along in the Cave
Once inside the cavern, singer, performer and musical director Ray Mcleod will lead us through 45 minutes of Christmas favourites, and you’re invited to join in!

With the natural acoustics of the cavern, festive lighting and the sound of voices echoing through the rock formations, this promises to be a Christmas experience you won’t forget.
