What a busy week it’s been for Broughton Astley Sea Cadets! 🚢

This week our cadets have been incredibly busy, taking part in a wide range of activities both at the unit and out in the community.

📅 Monday’s Parade Night
Cadets spent the first half of the evening working through the Cadet Training Programme before moving on to uniform care. They practised ironing uniforms and polishing boots, ensuring they were looking their very best.

🌊 Wednesday
Cadets travelled to Thrapston for boating activities, taking part in powerboating and rowing sessions while working towards qualifications and developing their skills on the water.

🎪 Saturday – Broughton Astley Carnival
Our Sea Cadets ran a stall to help raise funds for the unit. Visitors enjoyed a variety of games, including Pull the String, Name the Teddy Bear, and Guess How Many Sweets Are in the Jar. We also had recruitment information available for anyone interested in joining.

🏃 Sunday
Another busy day saw some of our cadets supporting the Lutterworth Fun Run, cheering on the runners and helping create a fantastic atmosphere.

Meanwhile, others attended the Sharnford Village Fete, where we hosted games, sold plants, and offered glitter tattoos and Union Flag tattoos. 🎡

👏 A huge thank you and well done to all of the cadets and volunteers who helped make this week such a success. Your hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm do not go unnoticed, and we are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved.👏

Volunteers’ Week is here from Monday 1st June - Sunday 7th June🎉 It’s time to celebrate all things volunteering! Join us in thanking all the volunteers across the UK.

This Volunteers' Week, we would like to say a huge thank you to all of our amazing volunteers at TS Fox.

Your dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment make a real difference to the lives of our cadets. Whether you're delivering training, supporting activities, helping behind the scenes, fundraising, maintaining our facilities, driving, administering, or simply giving your time and expertise, you are the heart of our unit.

Thanks to your hard work, our young people have the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence, make lifelong friendships, and enjoy experiences they will never forget.

We are incredibly grateful for everything you do, and we couldn't do it without you.

From all of our cadets, staff, trustees, parents, and supporters, thank you for your service, commitment, and passion.

⚓ Another busy and enjoyable week at Sea Cadets! ⚓

This week our cadets have been making the most of every opportunity.

At Thrapston we got out on the water for a brilliant boating session, with cadets taking part in rowing, powerboating and kayaking, learning skills and teamwork out on the water.

A huge well done to our new entry cadet Oscar, who passed his swim test this week, a fantastic achievement! 👏

On Thursday, a group of our cadets also spent time visiting Hinckley Park Care Home, where they enjoyed playing bingo, taking part in a quiz, helped to make tea, and joining in with a dance and singalong with the residents. It was a lovely morning and great to spend time together with the local community.

Well done to everyone involved this week! ⚓💙

Our cadets, volunteers and UMT have worked incredibly hard to get our unit to where it is today and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of you. A massive thanks to everyone who came to celebrate with us🏆

🎉Boating season has arrived🎉

We’re excited to be back for another boating season! 🚣‍♂️🌊

A huge congratulations to all of our cadets who successfully completed their swim tests over the last few weeks. It’s not easy to swim in the cold water but everyone did very well! A fantastic achievement and an important milestone before getting out on the water🏊‍♀️

Yesterday evening marked our first boating night of the season, with cadets taking part in paddleboarding, kayaking, powerboating, and rowing. It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves, building confidence, and developing new skills on the water. 🛶

We would also like to congratulate PO (SCC) Mackenzie on achieving her Rowing Instructors qualification over the weekend! Another instructor for our unit!🎉

We’re looking forward to an exciting season ahead!😁

It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks for our cadets! 🌟

Over the Easter holidays, cadets took part in a range of outdoor teamwork activities, alongside an Easter-themed quiz where they could earn valuable division points 🐣💪

We also enjoyed a fantastic visit to the local fire station, giving cadets a great insight into the work of emergency services. 🚒

On top of that, two of our cadets attended a Junior Blue Module weekend, where they got stuck into paddle sports, rowing, and land-based sailing, as well as developing their knowledge through water safety and other land-based modules.⛵️

This week has been just as productive! On Monday, cadets put their skills to the test by constructing tents as part of their expedition skills modules 🏕️. Then on Wednesday, everyone worked hard on completing modules to support their progress and promotions.

Well done to all our cadets for their effort and enthusiasm! 👏

If your child is interested in joining us,
We have a Junior Sea Cadets section 10-12years
Senior Cadet section 12-18 years.
If you are interested in joining as a volunteer, or join our Unit Management Trust group, please contact us at [email protected].

🚒An incredibly busy evening for Broughton Astley Sea Cadets!

On Wednesday evening, Broughton Astley Sea Cadets visited Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service Southern Station for an educational yet exciting session packed with fun-filled activities.

Our cadets learned all about the role of the fire and rescue service and what they do in our community, fire safety in the home and the importance of testing smoke alarms. Cadets also explored breathing apparatus, with one cadet even putting on the full kit! 🧑‍🚒

The service also gave us an overview of the Water Rescue Unit whilst showing us the dry suits, and different rescue techniques! 🛟

Two main highlights of the Cadets night was undoubtedly the ride in the fire engine with blue lights and sirens on and each having a go with the water hose 💦

We would like to sincerely thank Southern Station for having us and teaching us valuable information - it’s always great for our cadets to get out and about into the community. We definitely have some budding firefighters at our unit👏
