There is a Wildlife Watch session at Y Gaer, Brecon on Thursday 30th July, 2pm to 4pm. This session is for children aged 7 to 12 years of age. A charge of Β£2 per child helps towards running costs and materials.

We will be learning about swifts and where they disappear to after raising their young. There will also be a crafty activity.

Plenty of swifts were spotted on the Swift Stroll around Brecon on Friday 10th July with our Engagement Officer Sarah Morgan and Pauline from the Brecon and District Swift Group.

The heat kept them quite high to start with but groups could be seen circling and screaming above the Watton, Alexandra Terrace and Bridge Street.

The cheer on the clip is because we spotted a swift entering a likely nest space, although the passing screaming party was also a good enough reason.

Swifts are one of the quintessential sounds of the summer. Come for a summer evening stroll for the chance to spot some swift screaming parties! Learn more about these incredible ariel acrobats and contribute to data collection to help this vulnerable species.

Thursday 2nd April, 2pm - 4pm.
The Brecon Wildlife Watch group is holding an Hedgehog craft event at Y Gaer. Bring your children along and learn about hedgehogs whilst being creative.

The Wildlife Watch is the junior part of the Wildlife Trust movement. The group is for children aged 7-12 years old and is held on a Thursday in each school holiday. On this occasion there is some flexibility. More information can be given on the day.

Saturday 4th April, 10am - 1pm
The Hedgehog Walk
Members of the Brecon Wildlife Watch Group will be walking 3 miles from Y Gaer raise money to support the work of the Wildlife Trusts. If your children would like to join the walk please email Sarah at [email protected] or find out more at the craft event above.
