Please sign and support this campaign.

This is the only population in Wales which is truly native. No introductions from other areas to bolster the population. Their genetics include haplotypes which don't exist anywhere else.

The Wildlife Trust of South & West Wales have been researching and protecting this population for over 20 years, keeping the grey squirrels out of this area so they do not contract squirrel pox. That disease is carried by grey squirrels but deadly to red squirrels.

Building a wind farm here will cause the reds to disperse and come into contact with many threats including squirrel pox. Many will be lost.

There are only three Red Squirrel populations remaining in the whole of Wales. The population in mid-Wales is special. They possess genetics unique to this area which are crucial to conserve for the wider population.

Now they’re under threat and need your help to protect their home from development.
