A HUGE THANK YOU to my aunty Tricia (a past Velindre patient), Diane and Angela, and to the wider Powell family and friends for organising and creating such a special 🍰🫖 ‘Ladies Gin Afternoon Tea’ 🥂🧁yesterday afternoon, in support of Pulk Friction Arctic Blast 2024 - they raised an amazing £2000 for Velindre Cancer Centre Fundraising💚

These ladies went over and above to not just make it happen, but make it extra special for 60 women from the Abbey Cwm Hir community and all before lambing properly kicks in. I heard over 100 scones were made by 7.30am Saturday morning 🤩 What a delicious sight (look at the menu!!) and what a turn out! 💐

A group of women from Brecon are trekking across the Arctic to raise money for a cancer charity.

In just two weeks time a group of intrepid local lasses head out to the Northern most point in Sweden inside the Arctic circle in order to take part in this years Pulk Friction Arctic Blast 2024 Challenge.Trekking 100 km over 7 days unsupported. This sounds tough right? That’s because it is. But it’s nowhere near as tough as a cancer diagnosis. The girls are raising money for Velindre Cancer Centre Fundraising . The hospital of hope for so many. On Weds 6th March we have a lovely coffee morning at Crai Village Hall. Tea/coffee and lovely cakes. Learn about the Arctic expedition and Velindre fundraiser. We are so pleased to have the tour de force that is Leigh Hendra. Owner of the fabulous The Hours Cafe & Bookshop and creator and curator of Brecon Women's Festival. Also the lovely Olivia Crooks yoga guru talking us through the importance of breathing and mindfulness. £10 donation on the door. Please bring cash to the event for tea/coffee/cake and raffle. A huge heartfelt thanks to Pontfaen YFC for an amazing £4000 cheque to Velindre Cancer Centre raised at December’s Brecon tractor run. We are overwhelmed by this generous donation ahead of our Arctic Blast 100km snow shoe challenge in just 2 weeks time. The money raised for Velindre Cancer Centre Fundraising will make a huge difference. Diolch yn Fawr . We can’t thank you enough.
