RBL Brampton Branch Coffee Morning @ the Moot Hall, Saturday 7th November.

09/10/2026

The Brampton branch of the Royal British Legion will hold a ceremony at the Capon Tree monument on Wednesday 21st October, 280 years to the day since six Scottish Jacobites were executed there.

The men were put to death for supporting Prince Charles Edward Stuart's bid to reclaim the crown. Brampton served as the prince's headquarters.

Pupils from William Howard School will sing Loch Lomond, and a Highland piper will play as wreaths are laid by groups including Brampton Parish Council.

Members of the public are welcome to attend from 11am.

Yesterday, our VALOUR Regional Coordinator Colin had the pleasure of meeting with Angela Heys from Hambleton Community Action to explore how our organisations can work more closely together to strengthen support for the Armed Forces community across North Yorkshire.

We discussed how the VALOUR Recognised Centre for Yorkshire & Humber can complement and enhance the fantastic work already being delivered by Hambleton Community Action, helping to ensure veterans, serving personnel and their families can access the right support at the right time.

A key part of the discussion focused on the potential delivery of a support clinic within RAF Leeming, providing assistance to families preparing for discharge into civilian life, as well as helping to address any challenges they may experience whilst still serving.

This partnership demonstrates the growing reach of VALOUR across North Yorkshire as we continue to build an ever-expanding network of organisations committed to improving outcomes for the Armed Forces community.
