Here’s a little food-saving win for The Pantry! 👇

When a big batch of sandwiches was left over from a school trip, we were able to give them a second life instead of letting them go to waste. 🥪💚
Thanks to some quick thinking and a little teamwork, those 47 kilos of fresh lunches are now with our community.

✨Remember, if you ever find yourself with extra food, don’t toss it, send it our way and we’ll make sure it reaches those who can use it 🙏🙏

✨ A lovely message landed in our inbox today from Felix Go (the organisation that allocates the supermarket pick ups to food projects) ✨

Thanking Feed Our Community for accepting 9️⃣5️⃣% of our primary donation offers over the last 3 months 💚

Every collection means more good food saved, more meals created, and less of the 4.6 million tonnes wasted across the UK each year.
To our volunteers, drivers, partner projects and everyone who shows up week after week: THANK YOU.
You are the heartbeat of this work.
You turn surplus into care and food into dignity. You are all amazing, wonderful human beings!!

🥣 Jacqui’s Pantry Meals

Potentially a NEW Fortnightly Feature 👏

This week, Jacqui, one of our brilliant Pantry volunteers, popped in for her £2 shop and headed home to make a warming butternut squash and bean soup.
She also picked up purple sprouting broccoli for dinner tonight and a small punnet of strawberries ready for tomorrow’s breakfast 🍓

💚Jacqui will be sharing more of her Pantry creations every fortnight, showing what delicious meals can be made from the ingredients on offer.

We can’t wait to see what she cooks up next 🙏

🥣 Recipe: Butternut Squash and Bean Soup

1 butternut squash, peeled and chopped
1 tin of beans
1 onion, chopped
1 garlic clove
Veg stock
Season to taste

Pop everything into a pan, simmer until soft, blend if you like it smooth, or leave it chunky for a hearty bowlful.

💡Don't forget to grab some of our plentiful uncut loaves of bread to dip 🍞 🍞 🍞

Perfect meal for this horrendous weather 🌧️☔

Hi lovely Pantry People!

Just a quick reminder to help everything run smoothly for everyone this week.

👉 When you arrive, please give your first and surname when signing in for a Pantry Shop.
👉 Please leave trolleys at the entrance and use a basket for your shop.
Once you’ve chosen your items, you can pack your bags at the table so our volunteers can support you and make sure the limits stay fair for all.
👉 A little note about timings too: the queue closes at 12.15 so we can finish everyone’s shop and close the Pantry at 12.30.
👉 Please make sure you’re using the queuing system we have in place so everything stays calm and fair.
👉 Just two shops per week, per household.

These small steps help us keep things kind, organised and make sure everyone gets a good, fair shop 🙏

The weather’s chilly so we’re doing hot jacket potatoes for everyone using surplus spuds collected by our brilliant Pantry drivers.

If you’re coming, please bring something to go with a jacket potatoes like beans, cheese (no vegan cheese please, we’ve got loads), salad, chilli, curry, dips, crisps…

Or bring something sweet like cakes, biscuits or dessert.

✨ New to our community meals?
• We eat 12.30 to 2.30
• Bring a dish if you can, but come anyway if you’re short on time or money
• Open to all! Bring friends or family
• No alcohol, no smoking, no dogs
• No visitor parking at the Garden
