π MAY AT THE PANTRY π
As it's Volunteer Week, we wanted to share what was achieved at The Pantry during May and recognise the incredible team of volunteers who make it all possible. βββββ
π¦ Food rescued
We brought in 5,676.4kg of food during May.
That's over 5.6 tonnes of food saved from going to waste and redistributed back into our community.
π Food shared
2,619.7kg went directly to our Open Table and Free Food Foyer, ensuring good food reached local people instead of landfill.
π The Pantry support
Across the month we supported:
π 325 Pantry shops (including our volunteers shops)
π¨π© 373 adults, π§π¦146 children, a total of 132 households (not including our volunteers)
Every number represents people in our community accessing affordable food and support when they need it π π
π π π Volunteer power π π π
We thought you may be interested in seeing how many volunteers and how much volunteer time it takes to run The Pantry 7 days a week π π π
May took around 696 volunteer hours across 244 volunteer shifts.
We had 46 regular volunteers holding the fort, supported by a brilliant group of ad hoc helpers.
Whether collecting surplus food, sorting donations, running Open Table, welcoming the community, driving, cleaning, organising or helping behind the scenes, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.
As we celebrate Volunteer Week, we'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to every person who has given their time to support The Pantry π
Together you're helping reduce food waste, support local households and strengthen our community. π₯ππ₯¨π«ππ₯πππ₯πππβπ©
