Blyth Rugby Club was reformed in 1961 by Peter Daley and Bernie Cranmer, following an earlier club that existed from 1921 to 1937. Based at Plessey Road.

🌧️ WALKING RUGBY – COME RAIN OR SHINE! 🏉

Well, it would be rude not to mention it… IT MIGHT ACTUALLY BE RAINING! 😂🌧️

But fear not — walking rugby is happening tonight, and we can confirm that skin is waterproof. Probably. 🤔😂

Join us at Blyth RFC tonight at 7PM for some fun, friendly walking rugby. No experience needed, all abilities and genders welcome.

Passing, catching, running… and probably a bit of slipping about if this weather carries on! 😆

🚨 **IMPORTANT SEASON UPDATE** 🚨

As many of you will have seen, the RFU has announced that the start of the **competitive community rugby season will be pushed back to the week commencing Monday 21 September**.

While this isn't the news anyone at Blyth RFC wanted to hear, the decision has been made with player safety and the condition of pitches across the country firmly in mind following the prolonged period of dry weather.

We know our players, coaches, volunteers and supporters have all been working hard through pre-season and are eager to get the new campaign underway.

# # # 🏉 WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR BLYTH RFC?

🔹 **Our competitive league fixtures will now begin from the week commencing 21 September.**

🔹 We are awaiting further information on when any postponed fixtures will be rearranged and will share details as soon as we have them.

🔹 **Pre-season friendlies can still take place** where pitch conditions, player readiness and safety allow.

🔹 **Training will continue**, but as always, pitch conditions will be assessed to ensure sessions can be carried out safely.

🔹 We are also awaiting further guidance around **Age Grade fixtures** scheduled before 21 September, with coaches keeping their respective teams updated.

It's obviously frustrating to have the competitive season delayed when everyone is chomping at the bit to get started, but there's plenty we can do in the meantime.

**We'll keep training. We'll keep building. We'll keep preparing.**

And when the league season finally gets underway, we'll be ready to go. 💚🖤

💚🖤 **VICE CAPTAIN RETURNS!** 🖤💚

With Cole Charlton stepping up to lead the side as 1st XV Captain, we're delighted to confirm that **Vegas Liddell** is stepping back into the role of **Vice Captain** for the season ahead.

Vegas brings plenty of experience, leadership and, most importantly, a huge amount of commitment to the Blyth jersey. Having previously held the role, we're delighted to have him back supporting Cole and the rest of the squad as we head into the new season.

A strong leadership group is already taking shape, and we can't wait to see what this group can achieve. 💚🖤

💚🖤 NARROWLY BEATEN 🖤💚

A really positive first outing of pre-season for the lads yesterday, with the scoreboard not quite going our way but plenty to be encouraged by.

There were **Senior debuts for Robbie Simpson**, while a special mention goes to **Noah**, who stepped up as our top water boy for the afternoon! 💧👏

A big shoutout to **Giggsy from CWN Fitness** for all his help with the lads during pre-season. The work being put in is already starting to show, and yesterday was a great opportunity to put some of that into practice.

It was also **Sheep’s first game as Senior Head Coach**, giving him and the coaching team a great opportunity to see the squad in action and start putting their plans into place.

Plenty of positives, plenty to work on and, most importantly, plenty of rugby still to come. 💪🏉

💚🖤 PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY THIS SATURDAY 🖤💚

The wait is over! Our senior side is back in action this Saturday as we travel to take on Houghton RFC in our first pre-season fixture ahead of the 2026/27 season.
