Many of you will know Brian L Ord (the comrades club) an incredible man who gave us the venue, the drapes, the music, the letters… everything that made our GFS 150th celebration so special, and all for free. That’s just the kind of person he is kind, generous, and always supporting the community 💙

Sadly, due to a fire at the club, his amazing concert room used by countless local groups, young, elderly, dancers etc has been destroyed.

Now, he needs our support.

I’m not asking for donations (unless you want to and are in a position to), but please

➡️ Offer help if you can – clean up plans are being organised, skips getting delivered, charity coffee mornings are happening, local people cleaners are offering their services… pop in for a cuppa or glass of pop and keep the till flowing in the other areas of the club, every bit of support makes a difference.

People love to knock Blyth, but those of us from here know when it matters, this town comes together like no other. Let’s show that support now 🥰

✨ A huge thank you to everyone who came along last night to celebrate GFS England & Wales 150th Birthday! 🎉

This unforgettable evening was planned by the girls, for the girls. They wanted a night to get dressed up and shine and that’s exactly what we did. From deciding on pricing, creating invite lists, designing their invite, choosing the theme and decor this was all them. I couldn’t be prouder of my group and the incredible community that surrounds us. 💜

Hearing guests describe the girls as “polite,” “an asset,” and “inspiring” to watch them be congratulated on their awards especially from people meeting them for the first time just confirmed how special and unstoppable they are!

The girls spent the evening surrounded by Family, Friends, Councillors, absolute powerhouse women and even the Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of Northumberland handing out their awards!! What a night to remember!

We danced, we sang, we ran around like no one was watching... when in reality, the whole room was watching and cheering them on. That’s what GFS is all about: the freedom to be proud, be brave, be ourselves, be inclusive and most of all be unapologetically US.

🌟 An extra special thank you to Brian L Ord because without his generosity the night would not have been the same, the room, the drapes, the lights, the chairs, the music, the centre pieces all donated to give the girls the star treatment they deserve!! so Thank you so much! From me, my girls, my team and my guests!

Here’s to 150 years of empowering girls and to the next 150 years!

Autism awareness day ♾️ 🌈

Autism in girls is often misunderstood or overlooked because it doesn’t always look the way people expect. Many learn to mask their struggles, blending in while feeling completely different inside. But just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there.

This Autism Awareness day, let’s do better. Let’s listen, support, and celebrate autistic girls for who they truly are—because they deserve to be seen, understood, and valued.

The new hit TV show Adolescence caused viewers to question just how young is too young for toxic masculinity, harassment and gendered violence to take hold of children?

While the main character was only 13-years-old when he committed gendered violence, that means he was much younger when gender bias and toxic masculinity took hold. Girls in primary school regularly detail gendered harassment, bullying, and even violence, from boys.

Gender violence doesn't start with sexual assault or murder - it starts with the idea that boys are better than girls.

That's why the work of the wonderful organisations working to help boys develop positive masculinities is so important. And equally so is our work in supporting girls from when bias starts, rather than waiting until they reach a crisis point.
