🐰🐣⚜️Easter Raffle⚜️🐣🐰

As your local Scout Group, we are a group of around 30 dedicated adult volunteers providing young people from ages 4-14 the opportunity to experience the outdoors and learn new skills.

With around 140 young people, we are by far the largest group in our district, and we still have people on our waiting list!

We have outgrown our current hut on Tram Rd, Pontllanfraith, and have started the long process of fundraising with a veiw to expand.

We are currently running an Easter raffle, and are seeking any donations or gifts that could be used as prizes.

We also have plenty of raffle tickets for sale too 😁

Should you wish to be so kind and donate, purchase any raffle tickets, or help out in any other way, please get in touch.

We will keep you all updated on any progress we make.

Both Beaver Colonies were lucky enough to have a visit from Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust. Who gave them a guided tour of their ambulance and showed them some basic first aid. Many thanks for the experience I think they enjoyed the lights and sirens. 🚑

Do you have a child 10.5 -14 years old, looking for them to join a group outside of school? Keep them busy learning skills for life, meet new friends and achieve challenges.

You don’t have to love the outdoors to join Scouts, there are activities and badges for everyone, from artist, chef, digital maker, communicator, model maker, air activities, water activities, paddle sports and so much more.

At 1st Sirhowy Valley Scout Group Pontllanfraith, we are opening our 2nd Scout Troop and have a few places available. This is ONLY for 10.5-14year olds as our other sections are currently full. Join today and be part of one of the largest world wide youth groups and start your own adventure.

Starting Monday February 23rd 7-9pm.
There are also opportunities for adults to join with full training, DBS check and uniform provided.

We are in need of some more volunteers.

If you or someone you know would be interested in joining our enthusiastic team please get in touch. We provide scouting to 140 young people over 8 sessions each week in Pontllanfraith and the future of the group relies on the dedication and recruitment of volunteers.

- Over 18 (no upper age limit)

- Enhanced DBS (will be completed)

- Online training to be completed covering safety, safeguarding etc.

- joining a successful and enthusiastic team

- making new friends

- taking on new adventures

-helps with your mental health and wellbeing

Roles:

- team leaders

- team members

- quartermaster (help look after equipment)

- trustees

- parent rota

Seasons greeting to all our members, supporters, friends and our local community. 2025 has been a great year for us at 1st Sirhowy Valley Scout Group, seeing our group continue to grow and we hope this continues into 2026. We are looking for new volunteers and Squirrels (4-6) to join us, so drop us a message if you’re interested. We hope you all have an amazing Christmas and a prosperous new year. 🎅🏼 🎄

This weekend, Scout groups across Wales will be taking part in local Remembrance Day events – laying wreaths, marching in parades, and honouring those who served.

We want to say a heartfelt diolch to every young person and volunteer who has given their time to sell poppies, support local services, and help their communities remember.

From Llanelli to Llandudno, you’ve shown what it means to live the values of Scouting – respect, unity, and service.
