It's time for this week's Friday Fundraisers - our weekly round up, where we celebrate the fantastic achievements of our supporters. 🌟

This week, we'd like to say thank you to Shamim Khan, who visited the Hospice to share her appreciation for our Hospice at Home team. Yesterday, members of the team came together with Shamim over brews and cakes she had kindly baked. It was a lovely opportunity to spend some time together! ❤️

Shamim's father receives support from Hospice at Home, and she described the team as "angels in the flesh", sharing how they had been a lifeline to her family.

Many of you may also remember Shamim from earlier this year when she completed her first ever 10k and raised an incredible £520 for East Lancashire Hospice.

Thank you, Shamim, for your ongoing support and for your kind words. They mean so much to our team. ✨

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close our Great Harwood Kids Shop. The shop's final day of trading will be Thursday 12 November.

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to our customers, donors, volunteers, and staff who have supported the shop over the years and made a real difference. Every purchase, donation and volunteered hour has helped support local hospice care, and we are incredibly grateful. ❤️

Despite the hard work and commitment of our fantastic staff and volunteer team, the shop is no longer financially viable. Closing the shop is not a decision we have taken lightly, but it is the most responsible step to protect funding for hospice care in the long term and ensure our resources can have the greatest impact for our patients and their friends and families.

Our recently opened Accrington Shop will now be your nearest East Lancashire Hospice shop and the closest location for dropping off donations. If you're looking for a dedicated children's shop, we'd love to welcome you to our Clitheroe Kids Shop. ✨

Please note that we are no longer accepting donations at our Great Harwood shop. We truly appreciate your continued support and donations, which can be taken to our Accrington shop instead.

Thank you for your understanding, support and continued commitment to supporting specialist palliative care and support for the people of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.

"I wish more people knew..."

There are many things people might not know about Hospice care. ❤️

From counselling and bereavement support, to complementary therapies and personal care, our teams provide a wide range of services that support people in ways they might not expect.

We asked members of our team what they wish more people knew about the services they provide every day, and their answers highlight just a few of the ways East Lancashire Hospice provides specialist palliative care and support for patients, and their friends and families.

💬 Najjif Shah, Counsellor
"As a Counsellor, I wish more people knew that hospice support is not just for patients. We also provide emotional support, counselling and bereavement services for their friends and families, helping them navigate some of life's most difficult challenges with compassion and understanding."

🛁 Graham Garlick, Bathing Assistant
"As a Bathing Assistant, I wish more people knew that something as simple as a warm bath can give a person comfort, dignity, confidence and a sense of being themselves again."

🌿 Ashleigh Foster, Complementary Therapist
"As a Complementary Therapist, I wish more people knew that we offer much more than massage. We have a small team of highly skilled therapists who offer sound bath and meditation experiences, reflexology, reiki, HEARTS, M Technique and group relaxation. We offer something for everyone who needs some time out from 'being a patient'."

Hospice care is often different from what people expect. That's why we're sharing the voices of the people who deliver our services every day. These reflections offer just a small insight into the many ways we're by people's side, helping them make the most of life.
