Inclusion is everyone’s job – not just Spring into Action CIC’s.

Here are three simple ways you can make life more accessible for adults with learning disabilities:

- Use clear, simple language and check understanding.

- Be patient and allow extra time for people to respond.

- Make spaces quieter and more predictable where possible.

When our community does these small things, people feel safer, more welcome and more able to join in. Spring into Action CIC is here to support anyone who wants to make their space more inclusive.

We have recently been working with the EFL along with our friends at the U Night Group to help them produce Easy Read Guides. Here is what they had to say:

"We are working with Spring into Action and the U-Night Group to develop a series of easy read guides for our football competitions as part of our wider commitment to making the game more accessible to people with learning disabilities. They quickly understood our goals and audience, translating complex information into clear, engaging, and accessible content. Their collaborative approach and attention to detail ensured the guides met a high standard and aligned with our inclusion objectives. The final guides are an important step forward in helping us make football more inclusive, and we would highly recommend them to any organisation looking to improve accessibility in their communications."

People with learning disabilities and autistic people have so much to offer in work, volunteering and community roles.

With the right support and adjustments, people can use their skills, build CVs and feel proud of what they contribute – something Spring into Action CIC is passionate about.

Spring into Action CIC also relies on volunteers to help run our sessions and events. Volunteering with Spring into Action CIC is a great way to gain experience in social care, education, support work or community projects.

If you or your organisation would like to partner with Spring into Action CIC on volunteering or supported opportunities, please send us a message.

Everyone deserves places where they feel they belong.

For many adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, our events and projects are that place – somewhere to see friends, be themselves, try new things and to belong

This Learning Disability Week, the theme is "Do you see me?"

Thank you to everyone who helps Spring into Action CIC make inclusive spaces a reality: members, families, volunteers and partners.

Some people make a community stronger simply by being themselves.

They welcome others, help people make friends, support relationships, and inspire those around them.

That is exactly what Stephen did!

The Stephen Haywood Award for Supporting Friendships and Relationships recognises these special people.

Do you know someone who goes above and beyond to help others feel connected and included?

Or perhaps that person is you.

💙 Self-nominations and nominations of others are welcome.

📅 Nominations close 31st July 2026

🎉 Award winners will be announced at the Meet n Match 10 Year Anniversary Ball.

“Do you see me?”

Learning disability is often misunderstood – but it’s a normal part of our community life.

Adults with learning disabilities are friends, colleagues and that Spring into Action CIC is proud to work alongside.

Today for Learning Disability Week, Spring into Action CIC is asking: 'Do you see me? Not just my label, but my personality, interests and strengths.'

Share this post from Spring into Action CIC if you believe people with learning disabilities should be seen, heard and respected in every part of life.
