📢 1 DAY TO GO UNTIL THE WEAVERS UPRISING WOODLAND FESTIVAL 📢

Join The PROSPECTS Foundation and the Weavers Uprisings Bicentennial Committee at Whinney Hill Woodland on Saturday 20th June for a joint celebration! We'll be honouring the sacrifice made by Lancashire's handloom weavers 200 years ago, and celebrating the incredible biodiversity this historic landscape now holds!

🐸Pond Training Success!

Back in April we held a FREE "Intro to Ponds" workshop to introduce volunteers and staff to the beauty of ponds and the wildlife that inhabits them.

With help from two members of Amphibian Reptile Group of Lancashire, participants learned how to identify our native amphibians species, as well as the basics of identifying our most common aquatic plants and invertebrates. Advice was also given on how best to create and establish new pond habitats.

We got lucky with the weather and spent a gorgeous afternoon at Peel Park & the Coppice LNR exploring the ponds at Pleck Meadow and at the top of Plantation Road.

This lead to the discovery of a male Palmate Newt at Pleck Meadow, as well as countless other aquatic species.

Participants left better equipped to create/maintain pond habitats and identify the wildlife living in them.
