MIND Active MIND Active supports meaningful activities with older people living in residential and nursing homes in Northumberland.

MIND Active facilitates mind stimulating social inclusion activities and wider community well-being events with older people from residential care and nursing homes and isolated and marginalised older people from their own homes. We provide activities in local community venues inviting several care homes to meet and enjoy lunch, music and opportunities to be with others to dance, sing or simply en

joy the atmosphere. We also invite people with dementia and their loved ones from their own homes to join in with the community days, enabling them to share quality time together rather than respite apart. The charity is based in Bedlington and operates across the South East corner of the region, supported by donations and grants. The project's life enhancing activities challenge isolation and loneliness, promotes value, respect, understanding and involvement of marginalised older people. Donations help us to support hundreds of older people living in a large number of care homes as well as a growing number of people with dementia living in their own homes. Our efforts also support the quality of life of involved carers in their workplace, and visitors and family can also feel a sense of satisfaction knowing their loved ones are engaging in meaningful activities and community interaction, keeping residents and people with dementia stimulated. Every penny of our award winning charity is helping to make a difference.

Can you believe that!, MIND Active £50 prize competition photos we sent to the LGA Foundation were pipped at the post, apparently they want funny photos, So come on, let's get thinking we have plenty of scope to deliver, so share those ideas. More great news to share: LGA Foundation has funded us with £2,000 to run a series of mental and physical wellbeing activities in care and nursing homes: Glass Art, Animal Therapy and Chair-based Exercises. MIND Active's manager has also been a philanthropist for a good number of years and receives invites to some amazing private stately homes and venues. Yesterday evening it was Hesleyside Hall, residence of the 'dreaded Border Reivers' Charlton Family near Bellingham, no less. On this occasion in the company of William the owner, his parents, former and High Sheriffs of Northumberland, a number of local dignitaries, Lord Lieutenants and simply good likeminded company. Of course, this is often an opportunity to share the great work of our amazing charity team, sometimes, though this is not the purpose, it results in offers of funding. Last night proved such an extraordinary occasion. Thank you all if your looking in.

Robert Mitchum and Marilyn Monroe starred in "River of No Return" - Shoot-em-up, "INDIANS", exciting rapids scenes, affairs of the heart, and happy ending, except for the baddies that is. YAHOO. Well it's the long weekend with Bank Holiday Monday, and what a 'ride' it has been so far this year; Janette Sharp and Bill Robson have moved on to the next chapter, Angela has reached the grand age of 70, we have secured up to £70,000 this week and we are looking forward to our Quarter Century June 2027 and everything in between.
