Sienna - companion/ ridden prospect
Breed: Welsh D
Colour: dark bay
Gender: mare
Height: 14.2 HH
Date of Birth: 2011
Medical Conditions: None
Foster Donation: £170

Personality: Sienna is the more difficult to catch girly and you will have to bribe and follow her until she is ready to be caught. Sienna can be slightly spooky at new things. She’s good for the farrier and vet. She has just started to have a bridle on we haven’t currently done anything more with her yet as we was told she had never been ridden or broken in before us. So we are taking things very very slowly for her. She has taken well to wearing her bridle. She can be a little confused with the bridle to start with but soon relaxes. She can live out 24/7 but is also happy to come in at night if needed. Sienna come to us with two other mares and they was together for many years before hand. She is currently in our mixed herd and is doing so well. She is slowly coming away from the other two horses she came into the sanctuary with.

Type of home: Someone that’s used to Welsh mares and can handle their opinionated brains. Someone to bring on her ridden work and to take all the time she needs with building her confidence. Someone that will listen to her if she is trying to tell them something. someone to show her life isn’t that scary.

Folly - companion/ ridden prospect
Breed: Welsh D
Colour: black
Gender: mare
Height: 14.2 HH
Date of Birth: 2011
Medical Conditions: None
Foster Donation: £170

Personality: Folly can sometimes be a little stressy and gets upset if taken from her chosen friend. Folly come to us with two other mares and they was together for many years before. She is currently in our mixed herd and is doing so well. She is slowly coming away from the other two horses she came into the sanctuary with. She’s good to lead but can be strong at times. When you’re catching her she will walk away from you to start with but if you follow her she will let you catch her. She has just started to have a bridle on we haven’t currently done anything more with her yet as we was told she had never been ridden or broken in before us. When putting her bridle on she can get a little tense but this could just be due to not being used to it yet. So we are taking things very very slowly for her. She had taken well to wearing her bridle. She can live out 24/7 but is also happy to come in at night if needed. She has had laminitis in the past but has been fine here. Good to groom and pick out feet. She unfortunately isn’t treat oriented. This is all very new to her so she really needs to be taken slow. Folly is more skittish girl in the group and doesn’t always think before panicking.

Type of home: Someone that’s used to Welsh mares and can handle their opinionated brains. Someone to bring on her ridden work and to take all the time she needs with building her confidence. Someone that will listen to her if she is trying to tell them something.

Entry is £2 each for adults, £1 each for children and free for members on production of a current valid EHPPS membership card.

We accept card payments as well as cash.

👉PLEASE NOTE: There is now a change to our Groom-a-Pony sessions!
They are now PRE-BOOK for £10 a session. Limited availability (6 sessions available) - to prebook please email [email protected] - slots may be available on the day if bookings allow. These sessions are only available at our open days.

Participants in Groom-a-Pony must be aged 6 years or over.
Each session is 20 minutes long, and a member of our team will accompany you and guide you through the grooming process. You will be required to wear a riding hat (we can supply one) during the course of the session as a precaution - we choose horses and ponies that have a suitable temperament for these sessions but horses are naturally unpredictable and every precaution must be taken. SENSIBLE FOOTWEAR IS A MUST during these sessions as you will be taken into the stable with the horse/pony, which increases the risk of having feet stepped on. Please note: only 6 grooming sessions are available per open day.
Groom-a-pony participants receive a certificate, rosette, booklet and small pony teddy on completion of their grooming session.

Members of our team will be on hand to guide you and answer any questions you may have during your visit.

We look forward to seeing you
