Carreras Bowls Club, Basildon Carreras Bowls Club is 'the friendly club' open to anyone with an interest in bowling. Carreras Bowls Club values its reputation as 'the friendly club'.

Our club is open to all ages and abilities, and extends a warm invitation and welcome to new members. We are located in Basildon, next to Basildon Sporting Village in Gloucester Park, where the green is professionally maintained in excellent condition. We offer bowling to suit all preferences, from friendly social bowls such as roll-ups and club days, then friendly matches against other clubs, going on to local leagues and competitions at club, county and national level for the more competitive player. We also organise a number of social events throughout the year to maintain our friendship and enjoy each others company. The Club is actively seeking to expand its membership. If you're interested, come and talk to us and give it a go at one of our 'Come and Try' days, which will start in May 2024 with qualified coaches and instructors to give new players free instruction, and with bowls woods loaned by the Club. A great way to have fun and meet new people! All new members are allocated a 'buddy' - an experienced member of the club who can guide and explain every aspect, and give help wherever necessary. In addition the Club also offers coaching - to all members - on an individual basis if required.

That time has come when we close the green after a successful season so that the much needed work can begin to prepare it for next season.

¹A lovelly sunny fun day with a series of skill tests - target Bowls but with child woods nearest the ditch etc. With cake to follow !

Well done everyone ! Thank you to Chris for organising today competitions, Tyna and the catering team and, of course, a very big thank you to the Committee and all those that helped in whatever way this year.

We look forward to 2027 but will be meeting up at our social events throughout the, dare I say, winter ! If you are interested in joining us - you would be most welcome !

Our last competition of the season - The Garden Fund Competition. An informal day to raise funds for plants etc. for next season. 💐

The dress code was informal and flowery with the games followed by a Tea including scones, cream and jam. 😋 😋.

Congratulations go to the winner Bert after a one end shootout with Jacqui - so close.

A big thank you to Peter for organising the event, Tyna and Kay for catering and everyone who took part and raised £300 - hopefully, weather permitting, we will have a good display next year.
