Just some of the bags of litter we collected yesterday! We covered Summer Lane carpark, George St, Alma St, Kelvin Grove, Kings Rd, Collindridge Rd and part of Station Rd. All in preparation of next week's Remembrance Sunday.

Let’s show Park Hill Nature Reserve some love! 🌳💚

We’re inviting volunteers to join us for a community tidy-up at Park Hill Nature Reserve on Monday 9 November from 9.30am until 12 noon.

We’ll be tackling vegetation and litter, helping to keep the reserve looking its best for the local community.

🥾 Please wear sturdy boots if possible.
🧤 Gloves and other equipment will be provided.

We would love to see you there! 🙌🌿

Meeting point will be Park Hill, just off Station Rd, Wombwell

Today we walked down Everill Gate Lane to Old Moor, finding more than 90 vodka bottles and around 30 NO cannisters along the way. On the way back someone had already littered, makes me wonder if they did this before or after they drove passed us.
Anyway we had a fantastic morning in the sunshine having a good natter on the way. What better way to start a Saturday 💚

For the past couple of Saturdays the group have been litter picking Doncaster Rd in Darfield to Ardsley. This week it's back to Wombwell!! Meet up at Everill Gate Lane to walk and pick down to Old Moor Tavern and back. It would be great to have some extra helping hands! 9am meet up at the dead end, just turn down next to Tunstall Cross Chippy. Saturday 3 October 🗓️

We are visiting Darfield on Saturday 19 September to litter pick Doncaster Rd to Ardsley. Meet up is at The Hatters Coffee Shop (Audreys) at 9am.
We have extra pickers and plenty of bags, so grab some gardening gloves and come along!

On Saturday morning 4 of us spent two hours along Valley Way, Station Rd roundabout and in various ditches to collect more than 20 bags of litter! We will be there next Saturday 5th September meeting at the Garden of Peace, 9am to hopefully finish the job we started, come and join us, the ditches are optional 😃😂

We have such beautiful beaches in England and this summer I've spent time at a few seaside resorts. Early morning walks near the sea are perfect for blowing the cobwebs away and setting you up for the day. I can't help but end up picking up litter left behind by inconsiderate people. I've come across numerous nappies, wipes, food and drinks containers, plastic beach toys, socks, shoes, a hoover attachment and a pillow!
If you visit the beach, take your rubbish away with you. If you can, take a couple of pieces of litter left behind by others too.
The metal detectorists were out in force on the beaches, wonder if they found anything more pleasant than my discoveries 🪙!

4 of us made a last minute decision to get litter picking this morning! Off to Valley Way we went and over 20 bags later, it's looking much better!
We didn't finish, so next week we start from Station Rd. Meeting on Saturday 9am by the Garden of Peace, come and join us and let's make Wombwell clean and tidy 😊
