Local Scout Group providing fun, activities and training to young people between the ages of 6 and 14

28/10/2026

12th Barnsley as a group are coming together for a local cause at Christmas to take our promise and laws forward as in "think of others before ourselves and do a good turn every day". Plus "Help other people"

We are to support Barnsley Baby Baskets

Barnsley Baby Baskets, that is a wing of the Salvation Army, we are to help them with an Advent Calendar. They are looking for items for babies and mums to be collected, and we will collect together for donation.

Fr Darren has used them three times this year as a referral for new parents who may otherwise struggle so it would be great to help at this busy time of year.

Please see the attached document with items for collection, a box will be set up at the Scout Centre for donations to be passed on to the team at Barnsley Baby Baskets.

Although we don't do this sort of thing for reward. It will go towards community impact and world challenge badges to name a few.

We will run this from Monday 2nd November to 3rd December to allow time for collection / delivery etc.

Thank you all for your support in this appeal

Dear followers it's getting to that time of year where prep for the big C word will be beginning and we would like you to consider donating to the group when purchasing items. To make this easier we are on easy fundraising at the following link https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/12thbarnsleyscouts
Please add us to your platforms and any monies raised will go directly to group funds and activities. Thank You Very Much.

Well our Typhoon Air Scout Section got a jump on (pardon the pun) all the schools taking part in tomorrow by going through some of their emergency aid badges including hands only CPR tonight on their Yorkshire Ambulance Service Charity pillow pals.

This evening James Firth from Barnsley Round Table visited our Typhoon Scout Section to present Group Lead Volunteer Gavin Doxey aka Merlin with a cheque for £500 towards group funds and a recruitment project that the group are undertaking at the moment. A very big THANK YOU to the Round Table for their very kind donation.

I just wanted to acknowledge that it's been just over 12 months since we attained RAF Recognition Pennant Number 85, and it's been quite a 12 months. I also wanted to thank all young members for their engagement in everything this has brought along. Alongside air badge work and other activities there has been the gliding and the visit to RAF Coningsby both were fantastic experiences for all. Keep flying Team Flying Monks. Barnsley Scouts

A bit of a different night for our Chipmunk Beaver Colony tonight. The Colony became part of a stealth unit carrying out a suprise on one of their leaders. Rabbit had a big Birthday on Sunday and he thought he'd got away with it. However when the flag was unfurled there was an extra one hidden inside. The Beavers then had a video briefing on their task for the evening building a throne for Rabbit out of spaghetti and marshmallows as after a few childhood photo additions to the briefing he was given a crown sash and badge for the rest of the evening. The results of the building were great some real thought and problem solving going on. Well done Happy Birthday Rabbit
