The Society was founded in 1975, shortly after the change in Local Government when Barnoldswick, for centuries a part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, became for administrative purposes incorporated into Lancashire.

Webster was a 17th century Yorkshire cleric, physician and alchemist with occult interests and was involved in the English Civil War.

For the final meeting of this Golden Jubilee year we have a special event at Barnoldswick Library. Alan Roberts will give a talk on Barnoldswick in he 1980s and an overview of local archives held in Barnoldswick library. There will also be a chance to preview an exhibition based on material drawn from the Society archives. The exhibition at the library will run through the month of November. We begin the new season of talks in March next year at our usual venue at Frank Street Pensioners Club. See you on the 30th.
