A delightful visit from Carers Link Lancashire today, saw 15 guests give croquet a try as a respite activity. Judging by the smiles and whoops greeting hoops, we reckon it was a pretty successful first outing!

This weekend's 'A' series tournament was won by Chris Higgins, after an engaging best of three final against Durham's Peter Tymms. The winning jump shot at hoop 13 (making a brace of that particular sign-off) saw the highly polished tankard making a return trip to its mantelpiece at Bishop Monkton. Thanks to all eight players who made an albeit slimmed down fixture into another enjoyable occasion, played in a relaxed and congenial atmosphere. Until.next time!

If you had one of our flyers through the door, YES, you are right. There is nothing on the back and there should be! Due to a printers cock-up it was left blank when it should have had further details of our upcoming Open Day on Sun 24th May. Like how to find us, which would be a good start! See below or look out for the corrected version, due for delivery early next week. Doh!

Many congrats to Alex Aiton of Nottingham Croquet Club, winning the GC D-Level event in his first tournament! A great achievement, given he was the highest handicapper and one made all the sweeter by the box of chocs he also won in the 'Sitting-out Player's Side Comp' for best result against Pendle Chairman and -1 Scottish International Stephen Wright 😀

It has been an all new weekend...
England player Euan Burridge in action during his win in the new 'Northern Stars' heat on Saturday. Followed by today's GC Advantage game with two fresh league teams in Pendle B vs Ellesmere. A match won 12-6 by the home side but perhaps more remarkable for the time it took to complete HOOP 1 in the men's doubles... 1hr and 5 mins!!

Folks, allow us to introduce the new Lancashire GC Open Champion; Neil Adams! Neil eventually triumphed 7-5 over last year's winner Ross Bagni in the 3rd game of an entertaining final. The perfect end to a great weekend's croquet with entrants from far and wide. 🙂

Fun and games today with our inaugural 'Super 12's' tournament for 12 handicappers and/or new members who've not yet had a taste of competition. Some tight games and a few twists and turns before Donna triumphed, beating her sparring partner and actual partner into 2nd and 3rd respectively. We may hear the last of it but it won't be anytime soon!
