Today, ITT collected a total of 342 NOs cannisters from High Wycombe 💥

The reality behind the canisters...⚠️

At first glance, this might look like nothing more than a pile of empty canisters. But each one represents a choice that can carry real consequences.

Nitrous oxide — often called NOS, laughing gas, or “hippy crack” — is sometimes treated as harmless because it is readily available and its effects are short-lived.

The reality is very different. Repeated or heavy use can cause serious harm, including loss of consciousness, oxygen deprivation, nerve damage and potentially permanent neurological problems through vitamin B12 inactivation. There is also a risk of accidents and injury while intoxicated.

And the evidence doesn't disappear when the high wears off. Streets, alleyways, parks and car parks can become littered with discarded canisters, making visible the scale of a problem that is often hidden.

Awareness matters❗️❗️

Nitrous oxide isn't simply “a bit of harmless fun.” Understanding the risks, recognising problematic use, and talking openly about them can help prevent someone from discovering the consequences the hard way.

One canister might seem insignificant.

A pile tells another story.

Please educate those around you. What might seem a bit of fun can soon turn into a tragedy!

NOS is a colourless substance in which is inhaled to get a high. Although only classed as a class C drug, the use of NOS is extremely dangerous.

Parents please keep an eye on your children. The use of NOS is more common than most realise and alot of members of the community most likely see the leftover items used to inhale NOS on a daily basis.

The 2018/2019 Crime Survey for England and Wales found that it is the second most popular drug behind cannabis among 16 to 24-year-olds in the UK and there have been reports of it being used by children as young as 11 years old.
