I’ve started writing a new book. Just last week. This one I’ve wanted to write for a few years. It of course contains stories. I won’t reveal anything yet.
It’s interesting about what happens after a book release.

Release.

It’s an accurate word.

We were discussing this at home after the release of Bulgarian Folk Tales last week. How much is held in when something is created, and how much the body physically releases after the project is liberated, set free, released into the world. Creation is akin to an inhale that lasts for months, followed by a sweet, sweet exhale.

🌈 Gender bending rainbow powers 🌈
Did you know that an old Bulgarian mythological belief is that the rainbow is magical as it connects heaven and earth. The rainbow carries in itself a godly power, like no other.

When waters in the heavens decrease and the sunshine greets the rain, the rainbow comes out to drink from the rivers. There, where the rainbow quenches her thirst, she leaves a silver cup.

If a person drinks from the cup, they can be granted any wish. If they walk under the rainbow, they have the ability to change gender. The only other mythological being that has that power is the eagle!

The story of Under the Rainbow can be found in my book of Bulgarian Folk Tales, and it felt an important story to include 🧡

Thank you so much to everyone who came last night to celebrate the launch of Bulgarian Folk Tales. It was old friends and new friends. Some from close by, and some had travelled for hundreds of miles just to come. I am touched. Thank you.

There were stories and reading, questions and answers, laughter and tears.

Thank you to the wonderful for hosting this beautiful event. Community is important to me, and they are central to the community here. There are some signed books in store for those who couldn’t make it but wish to get a copy.
