At our Hillend location in Scotland, one of our instructors Kat lead an ‘intro to freestyle’ session which 4 young people took part in. Everyone had a great time, and we are hoping to make this a more regular session.

If you are interested in attending one of these sessions, or you would like more information, please email us on ‘[email protected]’. We are hoping to have space to take on more people from September onwards!

Disability Snowsport UK are proud to announce a new collaboration with global sports equipment brand HEAD SKI and The Snow Centre The Snow Centre Manchester aimed at making snowsports more accessible and inclusive for individuals with additional needs.

As part of the partnership, HEAD has donated helmets to support DSUK clients become familiar and comfortable wearing ski equipment before taking part in lessons. The initiative is designed to help reduce anxiety, build confidence and improve accessibility for first-time participants.

The helmets are already making a meaningful difference. A local school group has begun using the equipment ahead of their sessions, with staff reporting highly positive outcomes.

“The team kindly lent some helmets to practice putting on and increase tolerance for our pupils prior to a lesson. Without the loans, the children would not have been able to access the skiing”

By allowing the participants to gradually familiarise themselves with the feel of helmets and ski boots in a safe and supportive environment, the collaboration is helping remove barriers that might otherwise prevent young people from experiencing snowsports.

The initiative reflects a shared commitment between HEAD, DSUK and The Snow Centre to create inclusive opportunities and ensure that everyone has the chance to enjoy the physical, social and emotional benefits of skiing.

Through partnerships like this, the organisations hope to inspire greater participation in adaptive snowsports and continue breaking down barriers to access across the UK.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone involved with the free ski and snowboard event, Girls Who Ride, that took place earlier this year in Tignes, France.

The event welcomed 156 participants to enjoy a day of ski and snowboard coaching; learning new skills, making friends and trying out freestyle features. They were also joined by DJs, local eateries and generous prize donations. Whilst the event was free to attend, participants were invited to make a voluntary donation to Disability Snowsport UK.

A special shout out to the founders MAYHEW SNOWBOARDING and for bringing this community together; but also to the coaches, photographers, DJs, party-hosts, volunteers and many more who make this event possible.

We are incredibly grateful to be part of such a fantastic day, which perfectly reflects what we stand for.

Last Sunday we had join us at for their first snow session with us!

This is a clip of Maia having her first experience of adaptive snowsports. Her mum Chelsie said:

“Our little girl Maia is almost 9 years old, and has Angelman Syndrome, a rare genetic condition. She is unable to walk, is non-verbal and has epilepsy and is physically and mentally disabled. Over the years we have been involved with Families United, a local charity helping and giving opportunities to disabled children and their families. We recently attended a ski session at Manchester Snow Centre with Disability Snowsport UK, this is something we hadn’t heard of previously but the whole experience from start to finish was simply amazing. The staff were extremely competent, helpful and welcoming to us all and especially Maia. Her experience of being able to be involved in such an ‘accessible’ activity was fantastic for her, even though Maia is unable to say how she felt, we as parents and everyone around her could see the joy, happiness and excitement on her face. We would definitely recommend these session to anyone and will definitely be going back ourselves”

You can see yourselves from the video just how special this was for Maia. If you would like to ask any questions about adaptive snowsports with us here at DSUK, pop us an email at: [email protected]!

This is Sue, the winner of our Club Med prize from our summer 2025 draw! She won a 7 day all inclusive holiday for 2 and chose to go to The Hotel L’Ermitage in Vittel, France.

Sue entered the draw because her son, Christopher, has been skiing with DSUK in various European centres for the past 10 years or more. Christopher has Downs Syndrome and loved every minute of skiing with us.

As Sue no longer skis, they chose this location so they could play some golf which she managed to do and had a fantastic time.

Sue would like to extend her thanks to for such a generous donation to our prize draw!

This just shows you’ve got to be in it to win it!
