Two new Squirrel Scout groups to launch in Ashton this September

North Tameside Scouts has announced the launch of two new Squirrel Scout Dreys in Ashton, providing more opportunities for young people aged between four to six years to begin their Scouting adventure.

The District’s existing three Squirrel Scout Dreys are already operating at full capacity, reflecting a growing demand for the newest and youngest section of the Scout movement. To help meet this demand, new Dreys will open at 2nd/1st Hurst Scout Group, meeting on Mondays, and 3rd Ashton Scout Group, meeting on Tuesdays, from September.

Squirrel Scouts is the first step on a young person’s Scouting journey, helping children develop key skills for life through fun, friendship and adventure. Activities are designed to build confidence, encourage teamwork, improve communication skills and promote independence, all within a safe and supportive environment.

From exploring the outdoors and learning new skills to making friends and taking part in exciting challenges, Squirrel Scouts provides a fantastic foundation for personal development. The programme also helps young people prepare for their transition into Beaver Scouts while creating lifelong memories along the way.

Places in the new Dreys are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents and carers who would like their child to join are encouraged to register their interest as soon as possible by emailing [email protected].

North Tameside Scouts is also encouraging parents and carers to get involved in supporting the new Dreys. Whether helping occasionally at meetings, assisting with activities, or taking on a more regular volunteering role, family support plays a vital part in delivering a high-quality programme for young people.

The District is always keen to welcome new adult volunteers and leaders who would like to help inspire the next generation as they begin their Scouting journey. Full training and support are provided, and volunteering offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive difference within the local community.

🎉 Congratulations to 413th Manchester Scouts on celebrating 70 years of Scouting! 🎉

Last Saturday marked an incredible milestone as 413th Manchester Scouts celebrated their 70th anniversary.

For seven decades, the Group has provided young people with opportunities to learn new skills, take on challenges, make lifelong friendships, and enjoy countless adventures. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and commitment of generations of volunteers, leaders, supporters, and young people who have helped shape the Group over the years.

On behalf of the District, we would like to extend our warmest congratulations to everyone connected with 413th Manchester Scouts on reaching this remarkable anniversary.

Thank you for your contribution to Scouting and for continuing to inspire and support young people in our community.

We wish the Group every success for the future and look forward to seeing many more years of adventure and achievement ahead.
