It’s not just the cadets that get to go away on the weekends and have all the fun. This weekend two of our staff were away helping out on district courses.

CPO (SCC) Bothwell was away supporting Grampian District Sea Cadets run the Mountain Biking element of their multi-activity training weekend.

Meanwhile, PO (SCC) McConnachie was with Fife and Tayside District at their Junior’s Weekend and introducing the Junior Cadet’s to rowing.

A great time was had by both staff and cadets on these weekends with cadets leaving with experiences gained and qualifications earned.

Over the weekend a few of our cadets attended a Fife and Tayside District multi-activity weekend to take part in catering and sailing courses. Although the wind was working against them the cadets had a great time and all really enjoyed the banana bread and cookies produced by the caterers.

Over the past few weeks, our cadets have been keeping very busy.

Our CDT’s have been exploring meteorology, creating their own weather instruments as well as “clouds in a jar.”

At the same time, our CFC’s have been learning about Royal Navy history and have designed posters for a new unit display.

Together, they’ve also enjoyed some baking, making brownies and cupcakes and having plenty of fun decorating them.

We are holding two recruiting events, pop down and find out what Sea Cadets is all about!

Wednesday 22nd April, from 7pm until 9pm

Sunday 26th April, from 1pm until 3pm

Both events will be held at our unit, on East Abbey Street, Arbroath.

A huge thank you HM Coastguard - Angus & Dundee for their insightful visit to the Arbroath Coastguard Station.

The cadets very much enjoyed their visit and learned a great deal from the hands on demonstrations they partook in.

Tonight some of our cadets took a break from our usual scheduled classes.
They were in the galley making pancakes (staff were obviously taste testing!) cadets also learned a bit about hygiene and galley safety, and even cleaned up at the end of the evening

Tonight we had the pleasure of presenting the following:

One cadet gained promotion, from New Entry to Cadet - achieved through completing modules within the unit.

After attending a weekend training course with Fife and Tayside District

One cadet has been awarded basic First Aid and the other two cadets with Basic Seamanship
