Building Healthy Habits During ECE Week! 💧🧼🏫

Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation was delighted to support the ECE Week Celebration at Saraswati Dilkusha Kindergarten by conducting a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Training for students, teachers, school management, and parents.

The training emphasized the importance of safe water, proper sanitation, and good hygiene practices in creating a healthy learning environment. Participants learned how effective WASH practices help prevent the spread of communicable diseases, improve student attendance, and contribute to better learning outcomes and academic performance.

As part of its ongoing commitment to improving school WASH facilities, Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation has supported the school with a reliable water supply system, the construction of a universal accessible sanitation unit for persons with disabilities, and continuous hygiene promotion and advocacy.

These infrastructure improvements, combined with WASH education and awareness, are helping to create a safer, healthier, and more inclusive environment where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.

Empowering Communities Through Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundationand Ministry of Health & Medical Services - Fiji, successfully conducted a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Training using the Water Security, Safety and Sanitation Planning Tool.

Funded by the FIJI Water Foundation, the training brought together 34 participants from the Drauniivi Village Water Committee and the School Committee. The sessions focused on strengthening knowledge and skills in water security, safe water management, sanitation, and hygiene practices, while promoting compliance with relevant national legislation, standards, and policies.

Participants responded positively to the training and gained a greater appreciation of the importance of water conservation, proper sanitation, and good hygiene practices in protecting the health and wellbeing of their community.

By building local knowledge and capacity, we are supporting communities to take ownership of their water resources and create healthier, more resilient environments for future generations.

🌸 Commemorating World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 🌸

World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 highlights the importance of creating a world where menstruation is no longer a barrier to education, health, dignity, and opportunity. The theme reminds us that every girl and woman deserves access to safe sanitation facilities, clean water, accurate information, and supportive environments that enable them to manage menstruation with confidence and dignity.

At Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation, we recognize that improving access to inclusive water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities is essential to achieving this goal. Through the construction of Disability-Friendly Ablution Blocks and ongoing community advocacy, we continue to promote safe, accessible, and inclusive sanitation solutions that support menstrual hygiene management for all.

As part of this year's commemoration, Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of Health through Korovisilou Health Centre, conducted a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Session for Year 9 to Year 13 girls. The session provided valuable information on menstrual health, hygiene practices, and the importance of breaking stigma and encouraging open conversations around menstruation.

As we join the global community in commemorating World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that no girl is left behind due to inadequate sanitation facilities or lack of menstrual health education. This year’s World Menstrual Hygiene Day theme highlights the importance of creating a world where menstruation is no longer a barrier to education, health, dignity, and opportunity. It is a reminder that every girl and woman deserves access to safe sanitation facilities, clean water, and the support needed to manage menstruation with confidence and dignity.

Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation continues to support Menstrual Hygiene Management through the construction of Disability Friendly Ablution Blocks and community advocacy, ensuring that sanitation facilities are inclusive, safe, and accessible for all.

The facilities provide young girls with private and safe spaces to shower, change, and manage menstruation comfortably and with dignity. By improving access to inclusive sanitation, these ablution blocks help create safer and more supportive environments for girls in schools and communities.

Designed to withstand flooding and extreme weather events, the facilities also strengthen community resilience while ensuring long-term access to safe sanitation services.

🚰🌿 Building climate resilience through inclusive sanitation solutions in Fiji.

The European Union-funded Inclusive Climate Action in Fiji (ICAF) Project has successfully delivered a climate-resilient and accessible sanitation infrastructure system at Wairiki District School in Cakaudrove Province.

Funded by the European Union in the Pacific, co-financed by Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation and VaiWai and implemented by Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation in partnership with Fiji Disabled Peoples Federation, the project includes an integrated black and grey water treatment system designed to improve hygiene, public health, and environmental sustainability.

The new facilities are disability-inclusive and built to withstand the impacts of climate change, including flooding and extreme weather events, ensuring safer sanitation access for students, staff, and the wider community.

This initiative reflects the importance of strong partnerships in delivering sustainable climate adaptation solutions that protect vulnerable communities and support Fiji’s development priorities under SDG 6.

💧🌱 Safe and reliable water is now a reality for the people of Nasealevu Settlement in Nadogo, Macuata Province.

Through the Inclusive Climate Action in Fiji (ICAF) project, a new solar-powered groundwater supply system has been successfully commissioned to support drought-affected communities with sustainable and climate-resilient access to clean drinking water.

Funded by the@European Union in the Pacific co-financed by Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation and VaiWai and implemented by Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation in partnership with Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources. The project demonstrates the power of collaboration in building stronger and more resilient rural communities.

The initiative includes renewable energy infrastructure, household water connections, WASH awareness activities, and community training to ensure long-term sustainability.

Inclusive Climate Action for Fiji (ICAF) Project

The Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation (RPW) is a non-governmental organisation working since 2007 in delivering climate-resilient water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) solutions across Fiji.

RPW is the coordinator of the Inclusive Climate Action for Fiji (ICAF) Project, funded by the European Commission and implemented in partnership with civil society organisations.

Expression of Interest is now open for an Independent External Evaluator (Consultant).

The Project
The ICAF Project aims to address the adverse impacts of climate change, reduce vulnerability, and strengthen resilience in Fiji. The project focuses on climate-smart agriculture and ecosystem protection, inclusive water and sanitation infrastructure, and strengthening civil society advocacy and governance, with a strong emphasis on women, youth, and persons with disabilities.

The Role
Upon completion of the implementation period, the independent external evaluator will be engaged to assess the relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, impact, and sustainability of the project. The assignment will include document review, field visits, and stakeholder consultations, and will require the preparation of evaluation reports and presentations, including findings, lessons learned, and recommendations.

Duration
The engagement will be for up to a maximum of 20 working days, including field visits, and is expected to be undertaken within June – July 2026.

Budget
The consultant will provide a daily rate (FJD) for the duration of the engagement. Field trip costs will be covered separately.

Qualifications
Applicants must possess a degree or Master’s qualification in climate change, environment, development studies, human rights, management, or a related discipline, with a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in conducting external evaluations. Working knowledge of European Union or other internationally funded projects will be considered an added advantage.

Application Submission
Interested candidates are required to submit a written application (maximum five pages) outlining their relevant competencies and experience, understanding of the assignment, proposed methodology and approach, and proposed daily rate in FJD. The application must be accompanied by a Curriculum Vitae (CV) and at least two (2) professional references.

🌊 World Water Day 2026 – Water & Gender

Empowering youth voices for a sustainable future!

This World Water Day, Rotary Pacific Water for Life Founda hosted a tertiary students debate funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade New Zealand High Commission, Suva, Fiji, Rotary New Zealand World Rotary NZ World Community Service Rnzwcs Limited, Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation, bringing young leaders together to advocate for critical issues in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). Supported by key partners, this initiative strengthens informed dialogue and inspires action toward sustainable development in our communities.

Under this year’s theme, “Water and Gender,” the focus is clear: while access to safe water is a fundamental human right, many communities across the Pacific—including Fiji—still face challenges in water access, quality, and climate resilience.

Women and girls play a vital role in water management at the household and community level, yet remain underrepresented in decision-making. Addressing this gap is essential. Inclusive leadership in water governance is not just fair—it is key to building stronger, more resilient, and sustainable communities.

Together with our partners and the USP Students Debate Club, we remain committed to empowering young people to lead conversations and drive change in the WASH sector.
